Sherry Welch's Mom, Hazel Cross, is some better today. (Her Mom has pneumonia and Sherry is in Winnsboro with her.) She woke up this morning and was ready to get dressed and eat breakfast. She's been on the couch most of the day, sleeping, but continues the hard coughing.
Lesa Bulls sent this message: "Dr. Jim Semple has been in the hospital since last Wednesday night. His white blood cell count is still too low although they've been giving him blood. The radiation has scorched his throat and vocal cords...vocal chords paralyzed now and he is unable to swallow due to the swelling and pain. A feeding tube was inserted Friday; however, blood began to fill it, some dark and old and some fresh. They are hoping that it is only from the ulceration of the cancerous tumor which could indicate a little shrinkage. Today he begins radiation again and begins prepping for vocal chord surgery on Thursday. They are going to attempt to let him go home tomorrow and just travel back for the treatments, chemo, and surgery prep as he really wants to be home. The 6 kids are trying to take turns staying with him day and night to help him up and down, administer nourishment through the feeding tube, and get him to the radiation and chemo treatments and IVs at Baylor. He mostly refuses pain meds and he wants to remain clear headed and is hoping to be able to return to the pulpit on December 19 and December 25 to fulfill commitments. He lives to preach and minister and nothing will ever change that."

She has been recuperating from colon cancer surgery in Mesquite and about to commence radiation and chemo therapy when she started feeling bad and was found to have contracted pneumonia. She kept getting weaker and my sister put her in Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas two days ago. During their evaluation, it was discovered that her cancer had reappeared in her liver. Her surgeon/oncologist feels that due to her weakened state, any radiation or chemo therapies are out of the question at this time. He recommended placing her in a Hospice situation as soon as she is strong enough and barring a miracle of some sort, she only has "weeks" to live." Update on Dianna Welch - 9/27 - 2 :30pm
Lindsay McCarter sent this update on her Mom, Dianna Welch: "The second Dr. came out and said the hernia repair was done and she is in recovery, doing well! She will be going to room 410 (Baylor/Hoblitzele Hospital). We expect her to be in the hospital through the weekend at least. Keep praying for healing without infection and final pathology reports in a few days. We can't say thank you enough for all of you praying us through this journey."
Update on Dianna Welch - 9/27 - 10:30am
Lindsay McCarter just sent this update on her Mom, Dianna Welch:
"Our God is an awesome God! The Gyno-Oncologist came in and said that the 2 masses were connected and were attached to her tailbone. Further testing is being done to rule out lymphoma, BUT, it could be nothing more than a fatty mass. That is certainly what we are believing it is! The general surgeon is still in there working on removing her large hernia and the nurse called and said things are going well. Keep praying!!"

Weekly Update - 9/25 - 7:19pm
It was wonderful was it to see John Mark, Tara and their kids today!! Thank you John Mark for the wonderful lesson this morning and reminding us of things we need to be thankful for EVERYDAY! I loved seeing the faces of my Peruvian brothers and sisters in Christ and putting a name and their story together. We appreciate your hard work in the missionary field! He will also be speaking on Wednesday night in the auditorium. (There is still a sign-up sheet at the Welcome Center for those that want to spend some time with the family.)

Prayer Request - 9/23 - 10:19pm
Mark Welch sent this message tonight: "Dianna's surgery is set for 7:15am Tuesday, September 27th at Baylor Medical Center Downtown Dallas. Please, keep praying that all goes well and the doctors can relieve her body of whatever it is they have found."
Prayer Requests - 9/23 - 10:32am
J.C. Pomroy, the "Coke Man", has been diagnosed with cancer. He'd been having problems with his hip, thinking it was just arthritis, found that it was a huge mass. They've also found a mass very close to his heart. (J.C. drove a Coca-Cola truck for years.)
Kristi Bullard Moody sent this prayer request: "Gunnor Archer, born 9/20/11, with lung problems (possible hole in one of his lungs). He was CareFlighted on Wednesday to Medical City Children's Hospital/Dallas. His parents are Toby and Mindy (Ausmus) Archer.
Today, they've found that the hole has sealed itself off in his lung, but he's developed double pneumonia and his right lung is showing signs of a slight collapse.
His Mom, Mindy, has had some complications and had to come home and may not be able to go back to the hospital for a while." Please keep this little family in your prayers. If you will click here you can read his Caring Bridge website.
