Texas Army National Guard Sgt. Kelsey J. Holland, left, has the Texas Medal of Merit pinned on him by Major Todd Lehenbauer during a ceremony at Camp Maxey on Wednesday.
A hay barn near Biardstown, was on fire, in January 2011, and Kelsey rescued seven horses valued at more than $50,000!
“Sgt. Holland distinguished himself through exceptional meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service; he exposed himself to a high degree of danger in order to save property and rescue livestock; and if not for Sgt. Holland’s actions, the animals most likely would have perished."
