Weekly Update - 1/24

Patrick's lesson Sunday morning was titled "Love Demonstrated", with the biblical text taken from John 13:1-17.
  • Everyone wants to be happy.
  • At the end of pursuing happiness, there’s nothing left  but … YOU.
  • In what was literally the last hours before His death, Jesus kept showing them His love over and over.
  • We know Jesus cleanses ultimately. So we pursue holiness and closeness w/ God.
  • We don’t pursue holiness to get God, but to stay close to Him.
  • And here is the great lesson of this whole account: Only absolute humility can generate absolute love.

Weekly Update - 1/19

Patrick's lesson Sunday morning was "Do You Believe?", with the text taken from John 9.  It was using the illustration of the blind man being healed and his sight restored!
They get so caught up in the little things that when amazing things happen, like the man's sight being restored, they completely miss it.
The story of John 9 confronts readers throughout the generations:
~~We find ourselves joined with the disciples.
~~We join with the neighbors and friends in utter disbelief that this man was healed.
~~We join with the Pharisees in questioning him, and his parents.
We also join with the healed man and we are confronted by the question of Jesus..."Do you believe in the Son of Man?"..."Do you believe in me?"..."Are your eyes open to see the light?"

Thank you Patrick for the message this morning "Freedom", with the text taken from John 8:31-27.
How can we experience this true freedom?
*the first concept is DISCIPLESHIP (31-32)
*the second conccept is DECEPTION (33-34)
*the 3rd concept is DELIVERANCE (35-36)

Some never accept the challenge to test HIM.
Some test HIM, but are not willing to believe the outcome.

Verse 47...you don't hear HIM because you are NOT of HIM!

Your challenge for this year....BE IN THE WORD EVERYDAY!
1. Find the time.
2. Find a quiet place.
3. Pray before you read - that God will speak to you!
There are many websites that you can use.  Patrick recommended www.americanbible.org
