Update on David Welch 4/28

Sherry just posted this update:  We are heading back to Paris as soon as they can arrange transport. No surgery is needed. The tumor is not pressing on his eyelid muscle. The eyelid problem may resolve on its own, or not. OT will address it. It is my understanding that he will be delivered back to PRMC for them to discharge him to rehab. Sorry for the delay in passing on info, but I was waiting for an actual answer. He still is weak and needs therapy for strength and wobbliness. I am so thankful for all your prayers!

Update on David Welch 4/26

David is in Baylor Room T-320.
Doctor will see him tomorrow.
All is well. Sort of.

Update on Jean King - 4/26

Katherine Hamilton, Bill and Jean King's daughter, posted this update:
My Precious Mamma, Jean King, has been in much pain for over a week now, it peaked on Sunday and we ended in the Paris Regional ER on Monday. They did X-Ray and blood test. After a few hours, we were released without the doctor coming in, but were told no fractures. Well, today we went in to see Mammas Primary Care Doctor and were informed she does have a stress fracture and will be have surgery next Wednesday to repair it. We ask for prayers to Jehovah God, for healing and maybe an earlier date for the surgery.

Update on David Welch - 4/26

David Welch will be transferred to Baylor/Dallas today.  They have more tests to do and more decisions to make!

Our Sympathy...

James Richard Fields 55, of Paris, died at 2:27 PM, Sunday, April 23, 2017 at his home. A graveside service is set for 10:30 AM, Friday, April 28, 2017 in the Evergreen Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. David Darrow officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Richard was born February 7, 1962 in Paris to Billy Wayne and Ruby Mae Hoskins Fields. He graduated from Paris High School and Paris Junior College and worked as an optometrist assistant for several optical establishments in the Dallas and Paris area.
He is survived by four siblings, Rodney Fields and wife, Lavada of Troup, Texas, Kevin Shackelford and wife, Brenda of Sumner, Kim Stephens and husband, Chad of Paris, and Debbie Shackelford of Irving, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Mae and Billy Fields; and his step-mother, Joan Shackelford Fields.

Update on David Welch 4/25

Sherry posted this update about David last night:
Today he sat in a chair most of the day and made two or three trips up and down the hall with a walker. He had a couple of very short sessions with the PT, just moving his feet and legs. He did okay. His main need now is to regain strength. He still has some memory gaps, and has remembered some things that never happened (he has entertained us with a continuing story about a party that took place in his room.) Lol (Actually it took place in his mind.)
We are just waiting on a room to open up in rehab for him to be moved. The endocrinologist (Dr. Chira) wants another MRI tomorrow, for a clearer look at the tumor, and he will then know whether it is a situation calling for surgery or just a "watch and see" thing. We probably won't have those results until Thursday. Thank you all for your prayers and encouragement!!

Update on David Welch 4/20

Sherry posted this update on David for Thursday, April 20: David was more restless today, made noises but no words. He was mostly unresponsive. The endocrinologist is concerned about a tumor they found on his pituitary gland that might be contributing to his lack of improvement due to low cortisol production. Cortisol is vital to getting well, so they will be giving him shots for that. The lung doctor discontinued all his meds due to his inability to swallow and his inability to expel the carbon dioxide from his lungs, even with the bi-pap. The hospitalist requested another CT (since they were unable to finish the MRI yesterday because he couldn't follow directions to be still, hold his breath, etc.) They did the CT about 1:00 today, and we await results. All the doctors are concerned that he is not improving and is in fact, much worse than when he came in. This afternoon we noticed that he is not moving his right arm and leg, so it seems (to me) highly possible he has had another stroke. The CT should give that info, hopefully tomorrow. So, we wait. Again, thank you all so much for your sustaining prayers!!

Update on Webber Woodall 4/20

Webber continues to have the migraines, has degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis and many other issues.
I took him to the neurologist on Monday.  The doctor heard/didn't hear something and is sending him for a sonogram today.
Another issue he's having is falling.  He fell again today and hit his head, really hard.  There's no bump, but it just adds to the other issues he's having.
He hasn't worked since last February and can't drive.
So... in saying all of this, please pray specifically for his pain and depression.

Update on Mike Grigsby 4/19

Michelle Anderson posted the latest news on Mike. My parents saw Shonda (Kathy's daughter) this morning and the current plan is to come home (not sure exactly when, but probably soon) because Mike has to be on IV antibiotics for 2 weeks before open heart surgery to make sure there will be no infection. Home health will help with the IV process. The surgery would then be done here in Paris in a couple of weeks by Dr. Matter.

Our Sympathy 4/19

Ed Bullard’s sister, Maggie Bullard, of Dallas passed away today.  No service information is known at this time.

Update on David Welch 4/18

At 10pm, Sherry posted this update on David: I wanted to update everyone on David's status for Tuesday. He slept really well yesterday afternoon, due to meds to take his headache down. However, the med stuck with him and caused disorientation, weakness, and lethargy/hyperactivity so he had a hectic night (or I should say the nurses had a hectic night taking care of him). This continued most of today, with him fighting his Bi-PAP that they put on him to reduce his CO2 levels (this was successful). They were unable to do an MRI with contrast due to his restlessness and movements, and they will attempt that again when he is more responsive to their instructions (take a deep breath and hoooooooold.........you may breathe.) I don't have any indication when they will release him from this unit, but he will most likely go from the cardiac/stroke floor to rehab.

Thank you for all your prayers, visits, and calls. Keep those prayers going!!

Prayer Request - 4/18

Lynn Buchanan had emergency surgery for her appendix yesterday.

Update on David Welch - 4/18

Sherry Welch posted this update:  David is stable and awaiting test results for a concensus among the doctors (neurologist, cardiologist, and others I can't even remember) to determine treatment. They are looking at some rehab time, but he is able to walk with minimal assistance. His main issue is that he cannot open his right eyelid. When they hold it open he can see, but he just can't open it on his own. That would be addressed by OT. The CT indicated stroke, but the MRI did not confirm "a" stroke but many mini strokes over time, caused by too high a level of cumadin. However, the doctor said had his cumadin level not been so high, this event would have been much worse. Thank you to everyone who has been praying for him, and please continue. I will post any new info as it happens.

Update on Mike Grigsby 4/17

Michelle Anderson posted for Mike. I just talked to him and the heart cath will be done some time before 4:00 today and it will be done through his right wrist. He is experiencing a lot of headaches right now and having trouble sleeping and eating. Keep the prayers coming.

At around 8pm Kathy posted..Michael had his heart cath. He got back to his room about 5:30 and they didn't find any block age or anything else that needs to be addressed. Now they will schedule his open heart to replace the aorta valve, I will let you know.

Update on Kari Ann Cannon 4/17

Update on Sherrie Boyd 4/15

Sherrie posted this update this morning....I went into Medical City yesterday for testing. Pulmonary Hypertension has definitely been ruled out which is wonderful news. I will be talking to my doctor Tuesday night to see what the next steps are to finding out what is causing my shortness of breath. My lungs check out fine. Thanks for the prayers. Please let them continue specifically to find the cause and for measures for healing. Love you all.

Update on Mike Grigsby 4/15

Michelle Anderson posted this update this morning:  Mike called me this morning and asked me to post on FB for him so his friends can know what's happening with him right now.  It will be a long post, but please keep reading to the end as Mike deserves our love and needs our prayers right now.  Mike is in Medical City in Plano with serious health issues.  Before I give you the details on his physical health, please pray for Mike's spirit.  He is very broken and tired.  He has been battled ongoing sickness since the spring of 2010 and is exhausted.  He worries that people will think of his current situation as "just another chapter in the Mike is sick saga," and is just exhausted.  There are mounting financial concerns and debt continues to build over the years because of all of the illness, and to make matters worse, it is time for the review of Mike's disability and the government's judgement if it will continue.  He is also very worried about Kathy, as she is trying to stay strong and not show her tears through all of this.  She desperately needs strength and prayers. Now to Mike's health...As you know, he has suffered strokes and multiple illnesses over the last few years, and has battled sepsis(bacterial infection in the blood) five times since December, causing an 85 pound weight loss just from being sick.  In the past week, Mike had 3 seizures that left him unconscious as well as the final seizure that led Kathy to call 911 when she found him in the floor after a seizure in his recliner.  He was transferred to Medical City in Plano where he has undergone numerous tests and now has a team of 8 doctors working together on his case.  They did a 24 hour EEG that showed no seizure activity, as well as numerous EKG's, ultra sounds, x-rays, echocardiagrams, and blood cultures.  An ECG (camera down the esophogas) finally discovered that Mike's atrial heart valve is leaking dramatically and needs to be replaced.  He will have a heart cath on Monday to make sure there are no blockages followed by open heart surgery next week to replace the valve.  There is not a date set yet because the doctors are being overly cautious to make sure he has no infections before surgery can be done.  He is on 2 IV antibiotics around the clock and they continue to do regular blood cultures to look for infection (so far none is present).  Also, because Mike's body rejects anything made of metal, he is going to have a bovine valve as the replacement.  If for some reason his body rejects the valve after surgery, they will have to start over and do everything over again.  The surgeon is being very cautious to make sure Mike's body is ready and can handle the surgery before they decide on a day to do it.  The surgeon is working with a cardiologist, neurologist, pulmonary specialist, infection control, radiologist, anesthesiologist, and serologist (specialist in blood and bodily fluids) to ensure he is ready. All of this being said, Mike was blatantly honest with his struggle with whether to even move forward with the surgery or not.  As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, he is very tired. He is Spiritually drained and struggling with his faith...and if you know much about Mike at all, you know that he is a child of God and has always been very passionate about his love and relationship with Him.  He is hanging in there and preparing himself for surgery, but he needs our prayers for strength to battle through this.  Kathy needs our prayers to battle through this and to be strong for Mike, but to also allow herself to deal with her own stress and emotions and not hide them.  Our friends need all of the strength they can get right now. Mike and Kathy are so special to me and I consider them my brother and sister, an important part of my family and of my life story.  Pray for them. Love them. Lift them up so that our strength and faith can become theirs. I will continue to keep you posted as information comes to me.

He has had multiple tests and the doctors are closer to finding out what the infection is but are not positive. They do know he does not have cancer and he is having a biopsy this morning to hopefully find out what is going on.
