Update on Mike Bishop - 2/21

Lindsey posted this update:  Dad did not sleep well last night due to pain meds give him crazy dreams.
Xrays showed some fluid in chest cavity so he is getting Lasix. Blood count was on the edge so he will be getting more blood here shortly and that will be bag number 10.
Has some heel pain on one foot so not PT until that is checked.
Later this after noon 2 or 3, of the 5 chest tubes, will be coming out . (the newest one will stay in) just taking out the ones that are not draining any more.

Update on Mike Bishop 2/19

Lindsey posted today: Last night was a tough one.
After they put the new chest tube in he was having trouble managing his pain.
They gave him meds and adovan. But the adovan overstimulated him rather than relaxed him. After we got through that about 2 he started to calm down but had fast breathing.
They but the bypap mask back to help and he did finally get a better breathing pattern and then he was able to rest from 430 to 730.
They came in and did xrays and labs
But we haven't talked to the  yet.  ( follow up
Chest xray looks good new tube is working well,  and they are taking out his central line now)
He has had many more procedures than originally planned so the growing cost is weighing on all of our minds even on dads' in his altered state.
The goal for the day. Is to sit up on side of bed and maybe walking.

Update on Mike Bishop 2/17

Update On Mike at 12 noon today:
He had a rough night with little rest. His last x-ray showed a lot of fluid in one lung this morning.
They just did a procedure to drain that fluid and he said he felt better.  He is very tired  so we hope now the fluid is out that he can get some rest.
When he starts to have signs of the fluid build up again then they take more xrays and then based on those will determine if they need to replace one of the chest tubes to get better drainage.

Dad update: 7:35 pm
Since they have drained off the fluid from his lung he is doing much better .
His heart rate is down and o2 has stayed in the 90s so it too has improved.
He is getting regular breathing treatments.
He is still really tired from the no sleep last night and the breathing treatments tucker him out.
They have taken him off some of the meds
So we are going in the right direction
They should do another xray in the morning to check for fluid.
Just praying  for a good nights rest for everyone.
The nursing staff has been really great here and the drs check in frequently ..
Next update will be tomorrow.

Update on Mike Bishop 2/16

Lindsay Bishop posted this at 3:15pm:  He is resting. The small device they put in has helped and his numbers have improved some, but blood pressure is still a concern.  They are still waiting to see how the additional blood helps maintain his blood pressure
They just drew labs again, maybe that can tell us something.
He might also have to be seen by a Pulmonary doctor for his lungs.

Prayer Request - 2/16

Jeff Bowers, former member, asked that we pray for Alden (Bowers) Price's little 2 year old son, Holt.  He has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in his eye.  They are flying on Saturday to Philadelphia for tests and treatment. The world specialist in this cancer is there.
Please pray for traveling grace and for the doctor treating him.

Update on Mike Bishop 2/16

Mike's surgery started later than anticipated yesterday.  He got out of surgery around 7:30pm last night.
His daughter Lindsey posted this update this morning:  A
round 2am this morning. they took him off the vent.
But by 4am he was having trouble breathing and did some test and found fluid around his lungs. They had to push a lot of meds. That is making his heart work harder than it needs to.
They took him back at 9:00am to cath lab and placed a small balloon pump in to help his heart not work so hard. They said his heart still looks strong but they just don't want to over work it.
They brought him back from cath lab 10:55am and placed the device just fine.
They will be repeating x-rays to check lungs and an ECHO to check heart over the next few hours, to see if things improve and then go from there.
But for now we wait until all results come back before making any other decisions.
Thank you for all the prayers, love and support.
Keep them coming.
