Weekly Update - 12/22
"The Annunciation"
Luke 1-26-38
I. An Unexpected Recipient of God's Grace (vs. 26-28)
II. An Unbelievable Assignment (vs. 29-37)
III. An Uncompromising Obedience (vs. 38)
Points To Ponder:
1. Mary brings nothing on her resume other than her availability and willingness to serve.
2. Humility is the by-product of reflection about who God is.
3. We do not have the honor of parenting the Savior of the world, but we do have the blessing of becoming one of his children.
4. The Lord is also with us!
5. Status and identity are truly found in obedience to God.
6. God requires cooperation to accomplish his divine plan.
7. Nothing is impossible for God

Weekly Update - 12/15
"WAIT"
(Luke 1:5-25)
I. We are introduced to Zechariah and Elizabeth. (1:5-7)
II. Gabriel appears. (1:8-23)
III. Elizabeth conceived. (1:24-25)
One tough question: Despite disappointment will we remain committed to God?
Lessons to Learn:
1. Sometimes...
2. But, righteous people refuse to become bitter in their lives.
3. An encounter with the divine is meant to "shake us up".
4. Read, remember, reflect and rejoice!
5. Waiting becomes a primary activity of the faithful.
Remember Psalm 27:14:
"Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD."
Randy... I have to include my favorite verse about waiting:
Exodus 14:14: "The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still."

Long story short, she has some internal bleeding but they aren’t sure where it is coming from. We are waiting to hear from the surgeon but they are hoping that surgery won’t be necessary....Hopefully we will know more soon. We were in the ER for 8 hours and she is very tired so please no visitors at this time. With this going on and it being our busy season at work, Erin and I can’t respond to every call and text. I appreciate everyone checking on mom but this will be how I will update. Thank you for understanding.

Can you help?
We have been made aware through our Benevolence program of an opportunity to help a family this Christmas. There is a family that will have two children ages 3 & 5 arriving in Paris on December 21st. The grandfather will be bringing them from Abilene and the family does not have the money to get any Christmas gifts for them. If you would like to help them out please let the office know. We have contact information for the mom who is in Paris. The 3 yr old is autistic and does not speak. They love Paw Patrol, Hot Wheels, Batman, Mickey Mouse and PJ Mask! Richard Peace is our contact for them if you have any questions. Thanks!

I. A Word Study:
In the dictionary, church is defined as "A building used for public Christian worship."
The Latin word is ekklesia, which means "to call out, to call together".

II. "Church" in Acts is mentioned 19 times.
III. 7 Points about the Church
1. It's composed of the saved.
2. It belongs to God.
3. It gathers, then scatters.
4. It is universal and local.
5. It is diverse but unified.
6. Its significance is not determined by size or location but by the presence of the spirit.
7. It is on a mission.
