Barbara Ann McDowra Fambro, 89, a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend, of Paris, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at Paris Regional Medical Center.

The family has scheduled a gathering on Sunday, June 20th from 2-3 p.m. at Mrs. Fambro’s home, 2345 E. Cherry Street Apt. #6. Cremation was under the care and direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home. Mrs. Fambro, the daughter of R. A. “Rip” McDowra and Goldie Mae Carter McDowra, was born June 25, 1931, in Pattonville, Texas.

She attended East Lamar High School. In 1952, she moved to Dallas. For a number of years she was a homemaker and later worked for Methodist Hospital and at a day care. She was a member of the Church of Christ. 

Survivors include one son, Mike Bryan & wife Kyle of Arlington, grandchildren, Michael Ridge & husband Jayson, Megan Dunleavey & husband Andy, and John Bryan, great grandchildren, April, Grayson, Evynn, Meryn, Callym, Quinley, and Cole, and a step-son, Bruce Fambro & his brothers and sisters, along with many nieces & nephews and a plethora of friends.while living here and in Dallas.

Service for Ora Henderson

Ora Lee Henderson was born August 25, 1934. She was the 2nd of 4 children born to William and Rena Brown. 

In her early work career she worked at Saint Joseph Hospital and later at Cherry Street Annex/Manor. Her later career she worked at Jordan Laundry. After working many years she retired and enjoyed spending time with her family. 

She met and married the love of her life Cleamon Henderson, and to this union 7 children were born; Annie Bostic, William Cleamon (WC) Henderson, Mary Johnson, Irene Henderson, Luvella Henderson (deceased), Becky McGinnis, and Gerald Henderson (deceased). She was the proud grandmother of 19 grandchildren. 

Ora was baptized at an early age. She was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Arthur City, Texas for many years. Preceding her death, she was attending Lamar Avenue Church of Christ where she was a dedicated member.

Loretta Nabors posted this today:  Today my heart is broken 😢 My oldest brother Dale Hyman passed away this morning. He had been in the hospital for 3 weeks and was getting better but it just wasn’t meant to be. Please keep me and my remaining brother Larry in your prayers as well as Dale’s wife Mary.

Hispanic congregation news

Marcelino Rodriguez, the minister at the Hispanic congregation, has delivered his resignation to the elders.  He will be moving to the Walnut Church of Christ in Texarkana.
Marcelino, Elda and their boys came to Paris in 2004.
His last Sunday in Paris is July 18th and his first Sunday in Texarkana will be August 22nd.

Mike has been battling cancer is now on dialysis 3 times a week, along with his cancer treatments. He has been fighting to be able to meet his granddaughter that is to arrive in June.

Please stop and say a prayer for Travis and Petra Cooke.  (They are former members, he is in the military, and the son and daughter-in-law of Annetta Cooke.)  Their house burned this morning. She and the dogs got out ok and Travis was at work.  
Travis says they are ok and have insurance!

Last week, the Lamar County Homelessness Coalition began distributing items to the homeless and those living in poverty. This distribution occurs at the Farmer’s Market every Tuesday at noon. Below is a list of items to donate. Please bring them to the building and the office will deliver the items to United Way. Thanks!
