This from Barbara via Facebook post a little while ago: Charles is currently lying flat on his back, unable to move. He has a feeding tube in his nose, compression pumps on both legs up to his thighs, weird boots on his feet to keep his tendons from shrinking--all together rather uncomfortable. Physical therapists came to his room today to help retrain his core muscles so that he can sit up on the side of the bed by himself. He is not there yet, but is improving each day. The speech therapist came to help him with swallowing exercises so that he will be able to get off of the feeding tube in a few days.
Mainly, he is just terribly bored, but I know he is feeling better because he is tormenting all of the nurses with his jokes--a good sign. The goal seems to be to get him to a point where he can be transferred to the rehab unit, perhaps by this Saturday.
Please keep the prayers going. We appreciate all of you and your concern.
By the way, Charles says there is a chance is jokes will either be better, the same, or worse by the time he gets home.
