Weekly Update - 10/25

Will the Blind Beggar Please Stand?
Mark 10:46-52
“Sit down and be quite!”  “Just be happy with what you have!”  “What do you know?”  “Who asked you?”  “You should be seen and not heard.”

Who is the real Blind Beggar?  Is it Bartimaeus or the disciples or the rest of the crowd?
Jesus stopped in His tracks when He heard the cries of Bartimaeus. Jesus could have pushed through the crowd to Bartimaeus’ side. Instead, He gave the crowd a command, a task, and a dignity.  He invited them to participate in what He was doing!
It’s amazing to think that the healing we need can come as a command to do the very thing we couldn’t do on our own!
Go back and see them with your Lord’s eyes! Hear them with your Savior’s ears. Speak to them with your Redeemer’s very words.
Out of that healing, would come discipleship: “Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.” V.52
“We are all beggars; that is true.”
All of us can only see, hear, speak and live on the strength of Jesus’ amazing love for us!
And for all of us, as for Bartimaeus, Jesus stands still. He listens, and with another Word He exalts even the poorest and lowliest of us:
“What do you want me to do for you?”
“Will the real blind beggar please stand up?”

Weekly Update - 10/18

Thank you Patrick for the message today of "There's A Stirring".

“God dwells in a state of perpetual enthusiasm. He is delighted with all that is good and lovingly concerned about all that is wrong. He pursues His labors always in a fullness of holy zeal. No wonder the Spirit came at Pentecost as a sound of a rushing mighty wind and sat in tongues of fire on every forehead. ... Whatever else happened at Pentecost, one thing that cannot be missed by the most casual observer was the sudden up surging of moral enthusiasm. Those first disciples burned with a steady, inward fire. They were enthusiastic to the point of complete abandon.”  A.W. Tozer
Luke 24:32
2 Kings 10:15-17
“Is your heart right, as my heart is with yours?”
Jehu needed someone who was just as passionate about God as Baal worshipers were passionate about Baal.
Could it be that God may just be using us as his children to be salt and light to influence those around us to come and seek His face??
Jehu is asking us, “Is your heart right?”
Jeremiah 35:1-11
Can you imagine your family keeping your instruction 250 years after you’ve gone on to be with the Lord?  Jonadab’s family learned to be faithful to God even during perilous times.
Jeremiah 35:18-19.

Update on Grayson Gage - 10/14

Grayson Gage was in the ER today.  He fell asleep in class and they could not wake him up.  Was unable to move his arms and legs.  They believe it was due to his meds.  They put him on iv’s and he had started moving his feet, sent him home.
They are back at the ER for the 2nd time today.  Grayson now feels numbing in his arms and legs and falls in and out of responsiveness.

Prayer Request Update - 10/14

They are now in jail.  Will probably lose custody of their boys.  Lose their apartment.
This is what drugs will do to your life.
Please pray that this is a wake-up call for them and that they will get the help they need.

She is on life support at this time."

Weekly Update - 10/11

Thank you Patrick for the lesson this morning on "The Power of Blessing" with the text taken from 2 Samuel 6:9-11 .... How do we experience divine blessing in our home?  Deuteronomy 6:4-9

1. CHOOSE TO MAKE YOUR HOME HIS HOME...
Joshua 24:11-15 and Genesis 35:2-5
2. WELCOME HIS PRESENCE TO YOUR HOME... 2 Samuel 6:9-11 For 3 months the most awesome symbol of God’s presence was seated in Obed-Edoms home.  A box measuring 4’ x 2.5’ x 2.5’ was the focal point of his home.
Every day for 3 months they were aware that God was living with them.
Inside the ark of the covenant were three items ...
The two stone tablets of the law given to Moses - God’s Word in our homes
A jar of manna from Israel’s wilderness wanderings - God’s provision in our homes
Aarons budding staff - God ordained leadership in our homes
Pay close attention to the progression of "blessing" in this chapter:
2 Samuel 6:11 - - "The ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months. And the LORD blessed Obed-Edom and all his household."
2 Samuel 6:18  - "And when David had finished offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts."
2 Samuel 6:20 - "Then David returned to bless his household."
"We are blessed to be a blessing.”
What was the truth that Obed-Edom knew that caused God to bless his household?
It seems to be this: he was not uncomfortable in the presence of God.

Prayer Request - 10/2

Debra Usry posted this prayer request:  "Please keep my older cousin, Martha Davis Wiggins, who lives in Garland in your prayers. She has carotid artery blockages on both sides and is not doing well. She is presently at home and I am not sure if they are going to do the procedure to try to clear the blockages out or not."
