Can You Help??

Here Is a Way That You Can Help in the Wake of Hurricane Harvey TONIGHT!!
CitySquare Paris will be taking the lead in preparing a Red Cross Shelter for coastal evacuees. We want to be sure that we are ready if we get the call from the Red Cross that evacuees are on the way. Anyone in our community interested in helping with the shelter is invited to attend the training.
The Youth/Ministry Center @ First United Methodist Church, Paris, TX is a designated shelter site (located just to the east of our main building). This is also where the training will be held tonight (Thursday) from 6:00-9:00.
You must be trained and receive your badge/id to work in RC Shelters. If you can’t make it Thursday come at the same time on Friday.
Any questions can be directed to Ted Henderson at 903-227-4412 with CitySquare Paris.

The Promise...

This weekend, at Bywaters Park, local performers will be starring in "The Promise".
Plan on bringing your lawn chairs or a blanket on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

Prayer Request - 8/18

Ed and Cheryl Bullard's daugter, Kristi Moody asked for prayers for her little grandson Rylan and Stetson.
"My grandson Rylan is a sick little boy and needs your prayers, and if you read this from my daughter you will see that they have spent several days at the doctors and ER's. Rylan can't catch anything that is going around or he will end up in the hospital right know. They have more than enough on their plate, with a sick boy, and some other family members that are sick and in the hospital.
Friday night he was complaining of his left arm hurting and would barley move it, he had a pretty good bump under his armpit. Well our first thought was a broken collar bone but it wasn't. We were told to give Tylenol and Motrin and follow up with Dr.
Monday night we ended up right back in the ER. He had fever, pain right below his rib and a "rash" not like a regular raised bump rash but it looked more like it's under the skin and the bump under his arm pit had gotten bigger. His eyes were blood shot red and his face and eyes was swollen. I was told I needed referrals to 2 specialist (whom I'll keep to myself because frankly it scared the living crap out of me) and we needed to get into the Dr Tuesday.
Tuesday we get to the dr office for the appt and she said we need to go to children's so Rylan and I made the trip to Plano to Children's. We were there for hours. They ran a lot of test. The dr came back and said he has Lymphangitis. And to follow up with dr in 5 days and put him on an antibiotic.
Wednesday 4 towns later we finally find a pharmacy who has enough of the antibiotic to get him through 2 days.
Thursday (today) we wake up and his eyes are puffy and pink again. No big deal he had just woken up. Within 2 to 2 and half hours of him being awake his eyes and puffiness have not changed and "rash" has spread and a little bit darker. I call dr office and within 1.5 hours we are in her office. More blood work running test to check for Rocky Mountain Fever, Lymes Disease and one other that started with a B. We should have those results in Tomorrow.
Also a blood culture was done at children's on Tuesday and I'm praying we have those results in by Tomorrow also.
And today while in dr office I get a call from the school that Stetson had busted his knee open. So yet another trip to ER and 3 stitches later..
We are ready for a bubble!!"

Update on Charles Richards 8/16

This from Barbara via Facebook post a little while ago:   Charles is currently lying flat on his back, unable to move. He has a feeding tube in his nose, compression pumps on both legs up to his thighs, weird boots on his feet to keep his tendons from shrinking--all together rather uncomfortable. Physical therapists came to his room today to help retrain his core muscles so that he can sit up on the side of the bed by himself. He is not there yet, but is improving each day. The speech therapist came to help him with swallowing exercises so that he will be able to get off of the feeding tube in a few days.
Mainly, he is just terribly bored, but I know he is feeling better because he is tormenting all of the nurses with his jokes--a good sign. The goal seems to be to get him to a point where he can be transferred to the rehab unit, perhaps by this Saturday.
Please keep the prayers going. We appreciate all of you and your concern.
By the way, Charles says there is a chance is jokes will either be better, the same, or worse by the time he gets home.

Our Sympathy...

I asked for prayers last night for Danny Christian and his family.  He went missing yesterday at Lake Fork.
After 2 days of searching, his body was recovered tonight.
Please continue to remember his family and those who were involved in the search and recovery.

Prayer Request - 8/14

Gene Stallings has suffered another stroke.  He was at DFW Airport when it happened.  No other details are known at this time.

Prayer Request - 8/14

Dannie Weeks sent this prayer request:  Please pray for Tyler Tomme, who was jumped Sunday afternoon in Lubbock, and was brutally beaten in what we are assuming was just a random robbery...they  took his wallet with a whopping $15. in it.  He was taken to ER where a cat-scan confirmed that he had a fractured skull in two places and a brain bleed in two places.  He was immediately sent by ambulance to the Trauma Unit at UMC where he was placed in the Trauma ICU.  They are accessing him hourly and repeating scans every 6-12 hours making sure that the bleeds are not getting any worse.  He fades in and out of consciousness (some because of the injury and some because of pain meds).  Due to the severity of injuries, and investigation was begun immediately.  Pray for absolute complete healing; that the person or persons that did this get caught and brought to justice and peace for all.  Tyler is the son of very dear friends, who are just like family,  and we consider him as one of our grandchildren.
