Update on Kristi Anthony

Posted by Jay at 3:30 today:  "Therapy has gone well again today with more increased physical strength. Kristi's attention span is getting better. We need God's healing hand on her memory and cognitive health. He is working! Austin is still sick with a virus so please continue to pray for him and that Tyler and Cody don't get it and please pray that Sandy and I can stay healthy for Kristi's care. Matt is coming to spend the night with his sister tonight which will give us some rest. Sandy really needs it after a long night with Kristi last night. Mike will be here to stay on Tuesday night and Chris again on Saturday. They have been such a tremendous help to give us a break each week. Please pray for my Dad, Hugh who is trying to recover from a stoke which happened the week before Kristi's incident. It has been hard on us being away from my Dad during his illness and my Mom, Jean needs strength during her time to care for my Dad. Grace - Jay"

Prayer Request - 12/30

Jay Anthony just posted this prayer request:  "I would like to ask for specific prayers for our oldest son, Austin, he came down with a stomach virus today. This is exceptionally challenging since we don't know about the Long QT Syndrome and one of the main precautions is to NOT get dehydrated since low potassium and magnesium levels can trigger it. He also he cannot take any OTC medications until we know. I had to leave Sandy alone with Kristi so that I could go to the hotel to help Austin and the hospital is understaffed due to the holidays. This is where a Mom really excels BUT I will try my best! Got to give my concerns to the Lord - Jay"

Weekly Update - 12/30

What a treat we had today!  John Cannon (Patrick's dad) was our speaker this morning.  "What If Jesus Had Never Been Born?"

Response:  Kathy Marshall says that she "I feel guilty about words I've spoken.  Now, the relationship has to be fixed."

Thanks to all who prepared food for the 5th Sunday Potluck today!  And thanks to all who stayed to enjoy the good food and fellowship!

The special contribution for Hurricane Sandy relief was over $7,200!!!!

Update on Kristi Anthony

Posted by Jay this afternoon:  "We need strength today...this process is a BLESSING but at times we are physically and emotionally drained. Sandy, Austin, Tyler, Cody, and myself all feel the drain more on some days than others. Kristi feels the drain everyday. Even though it seems you could just "get away" and escape from time to time it is impossible because Kristi needs our constant help and we will not leave her side as she WOULD NEVER and HAS NEVER left ours so our request from God and our faithful prayer warriors today is for STRENGTH. David cries many many times to God to answer his prayers QUICKLY so I do not think it unfitting to ask God to give us strength quickly! We are so thankful for God's love and faithfulness as well as all of you who have so blessed us continually."

Prayer Request - 12/29

There was a hunting accident yesterday, here in Lamar County.  13 year old Cade Curry was accidently killed.  Please keep the Curry and Ballard families in your prayers.
Weezy's Restaurant in Blossom posted this message:  "We are accepting donations to help pay funeral expenses for Cade Curry, a sixth grade student at Prairiland who was killed in a hunting accident Friday. Anyone wishing to help can make donations at Weezys or at Blossom Hardware. Please share and spread the word."

Don't Forget....

Tomorrow is 5th Sunday, which means we will have a potluck lunch after morning worship services.  Please bring a dish, with a little extra for any guests we may have.  After lunch, we'll have a short devotional time and then be dismissed for the day.  No services on Sunday night.

Prayer Request - 12/29

Carole Anderson sent this message regarding her cousin:  "Please put Curbe Goolsby and his family on the prayer list.  Curbe was moved to a nursing home in Mesquite recently. He was still struggling with problems due to his latest stroke which was a severe one. No one knows what happened but on Dec. 24th, Curbe was aware of evert\ything and everyone. They did not visit him on the 25th due to the ice (Pat just learned to drive recently and does not do real well in good weather). When she went to see him on Wed. morning, the 26th, Curbe was greenish gray in color and totally unresponsive. He was running 106 degree fever. They suspected an infection, but to date, none of the tests showed one.
They called the doctor, then decided to take him to ER. There a cathscan was done, lumbar
puncture, blood work, MRI, etc. Nothing shows so far.
Curbe is on a vent and sedated at this time. His color has improved and his fever has come
down some.  He is very critical - another 24 hours at the nursing home and he would have been dead.
Currently in Baylor - Truett, ICU, room 425.
Please pray for peace for this family and that God's will be done."

Update on Kristi Anthony

Posted by Jay tonight:  "Today has been another progressive day, Kristi is now on a regular diet and no more tube feedings! She did extremely well in therapy today. She is very actively conversing with everyone. She continues to struggle with her memory but God will restore it! We visited Pate Rehab today and now must begin praying hard for our next step which could happen within the next three weeks. We are confident that God will lead us to the right place as He has done time and time again. Thank you all for faithful PRAYERS, God is in Control. - Jay"

Posted by Kristi's brother Mike last night:  "Spent last night with Kristi. To see the progress she makes daily is seeing the miracle God has been working on continuously. She has a long road ahead, no doubt. However, to see where she has traveled to this point is, again, a miracle.
She is in such good spirits and is working hard every chance she gets. She was able to feed herself, at times, this morning. What a blessed sight this was.
Please continue praying for her full recovery. Please pray that the boys and my test results for Long QT Syndrome come back negative. Please pray for mom and Jay for physical and mental strength. They have been inspirational to us all for their unwavering dedication to Kristi and her recovery process.
Remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint. God bless and good night!"

Prayer Request - 12/26

Mary Jones just called with a prayer request for her and Claude's grandson, Alex Ramierz.  He works at an ATV dealership in Texarkana.  On Dec. 13th he was in an accident where one of the ATV's turned over on his leg.  (He didn't have surgery that day because his new baby was born on the very same day.)  He finally had surgery today and the doctor said it was really bad and that if the infection in his leg didn't clear up, he could lose his foot.

Reminder

Don't forget...there are NO classes at church tonight.

Update on Kristi Anthony

Posted at 10am:  "The Anthony family had the best Christmas ever! Even though we had quite a time convincing Kristi that it was Christmas she enjoyed our entire family. Progress continues and Kristi is starting to eat a little better each day. She has lost a lot of weight and strength but as she progresses God is completely healing her in every way. Therapy started early this morning and Kristi was ready. We are faithfully expecting huge strides this week as we can see God working each day in so many ways. There are so many that are faithfully praying each day without fail for Kristi's complete healing! Psalm 121:7-8 "The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever."

Update on Kristi Anthony

Posted by Jay this morning:  "Kristi did great in OT today, now she is in PT and has ST still to come. Everyday we see improvement!!! Her arms and legs continue to get stronger and she is controlling them so... much better. She is thinking more clearly, comprehending more and more also. Her memory still needs to improve, and it will. It troubles her that she doesn't recall things that she knows she should but it is all getting better. They will take out the central line today since her medications are being reduced daily. Another "piece of equipment" gone. I pray that we all remember the true meaning of the season...CHRIST. Without Him we would be NOTHING, hopeless and helpless. GRACE came in the form of a baby, all human and all deity, only GOD could accomplish such a MIRACLE. Christmas Eve Gift to ALL! - Ours came by the MIRACLE of Kristi's trial - Jay"

Update on Kristi Anthony

Posted by Kristi's brother Mike tonight:   "Had a nice visit with Kristi today. We watched her do some of her physical therapy and she did great!  Remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint. "

Posted by Austin this afternoon:  "There isn't much of an update today. Mom did a little PT this afternoon. She understands everything so well, it's really amazing. She recognizes all the family and almost everyone who visits. She even understands sarcasm (which is probably the first thing she recognized when she woke up with all of the Anthony's around lol)."

Update on Kristi Anthony

Posted by Jay at 5pm:  "If you watch the news EVERYTHING and EVERYONE is bad...fortunately we don't know those people! EVERYONE has been so good to us and have helped us through this time. GOD has sent so many people into our lives to help us, pray for us, and guide us. We will NEVER be able to thank you all enough. I know that everyone i...s doing it because that is what you want to do...THANK YOU! We have had another day of progress. All three therapists told us that Kristi Welch Anthony had an EXCELLENT day...more alert, better attention, more strength, and stamina. We are witnessing a MIRACLE firsthand each and every day. Update on Kristi Anthony

Matthew 6:34 "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." We are learning to live one day at a time! It's really a good way to live too. If we think about everything it gets overwhelming, like yesterday did. Fortunately God always works everything out for good even though we cannot always see it in the present. God will work a miracle or simply send a person or event to touch our life at just the right time. He is ALWAYS faithful and He is in Control.  Today Kristi got to move from pureed foods to more "real" foods. We get to witness progress each and every day. Kristi walked with support (non weight bearing) on a treadmill for 9 minutes. She also got to brush the therapy dog, which she really enjoyed. She did more math and put cards in sequential order too! Your continued prayers are being answered daily - Grace, the Anthony's

Prayer Requests - 12/20 - 1:25pm

Kristi Anthony's brother, Matt, posted earlier today that she is eating REAL food!  French toast, eggs and cream of wheat!  WoooHOOO!

Zeke Wood had his knee surgery on Tuesday and is doing great!  He's having a little pain, but nothing too bad.

Averie Campbell had her ear surgery and can hear out of her ear now!  What an amazing miracle that is!

Former members, Gail Usry and Jan Jencot, have reported that their dad is in grave condition.

Sara Dene Goree has been released from the hospital and is back at The Home Place.

PRAISE!

Margaret Lough just sent this message:  "GOOD NEWS!  The PET scan did not show any indication of cancer.  No explanation available for my tumor marker being elevated, sooooooo, we'll continue to monitor that every 3 months.  What a relief not to fret every 3 weeks!
Thank you all so much for your prayers!  God has shown me such mercy and compassion.  He has blessed me more than I can ever let you know!"

Updates on Kristi Anthony - 12/18

Jay posted at 10am:  "Psalm 92:1-2 "It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High. It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening." We awoke to a beautiful morning, Kristi is very talkative this morning and ready for therapy. God has prepared her for this journey by giving her such great strength and so many wonderful friends to pray and cheer her on. The health care professionals are constantly amazed at her progress. All we can keep saying is "God is in Control and He is AMAZING". We are blessed continually by loving people. Today Laura Cannon and Angie Duren are coming to stay with Kristi this afternoon so that Sandy and I can run get a Christmas present for the boys, not that any of us need another present besides Kristi's good progress! It will be the first time that we have both really left the hospital since November 16th so PRAY for us because it is going to be hard to leave even for a little while. We know that Kristi is being cared for but still it is going to be hard not to be here. God continues to give us more than we can even ask for or imagine. - Jay"

Posted by Jay at 3:35pm:  "Another wonderful day of progress! Kristi was able to tolerate the standing frame in PT for 23 minutes...amazing. She also passed a "swallow study" which means she can now eat pureed foods. She will still be getting nutrition through the feeding tube for now in addition. God continues to bless Kristi's amazing recovery. Please pray for our three boys as they are home at school. It was very hard on them to leave us on Sunday but they were all three the best therapy for Kristi this past weekend. . - Thank You for Continued Prayers - Jay"

Updates on Kristi Anthony - 12/15

Posted by Austin at 12:30:  "Saw mom for the first time in 3 days and it's amazing how much she has progressed! She is talking and can comprehend tons of stuff. Update on Kristi Anthony

Posted by Jay this morning:  "Kristi read Cody's name from the newspaper and she read about Ian in the paper also! She has no problems seeing the newsprint or reading. Psalm 71:20 - "You have allowed me to suffer much hardship but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth" - God did not CAUSE this to happen to Kristi but He ALLOWED it so that HE could DO A MIGHTY WORK! God is good but we live in a fallen and broken world full of sickness and sin BUT God is ultimately in control and comes to the RESCUE of HIS people! Thank you ALL for your FAITH - Jay"

Update on Kristi Anthony - 12/13

Posted by Jay at 9:55am:  "The trach is out! At first they told us that the trach could be permanent and this morning they took it out way ahead of the earliest expectations...the doctors are amazed. Our God is AMAZING! The chief rehab doctor explained to me this morning that Kristi's rehab graph is plotting upwards with a steep slope...WHAT AN AWESOME GOD - Jay"

Posted last night by Kristi's brother Matt:  "Tonight was the first time I saw my sisters bright smiling face and heard her say my name and tell me she loves me in a month. She is sleeping now, but before she was talking my head off. Her voice is faint and weak and at times difficult to understand but I didn't care. It was the greatest conversation about nothing that I've ever had. Eventually we stopped trying to talk to each other and just smiled and laughed. I'll say it again, I love my sister and I need her back. She is on her way. I saw a verse in her room that says all...She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come...Proverbs 31:25. goodnight sis."

Update on Kristi Anthony

Posted by Jay at 12:30pm:  "Great news! The therapist just asked Kristi to solve 10 math equations and she got every one of them correct! More glory to God. What a great math teacher."

Posted by Jay at Noon:  "Therapy began a little slow today as Kristi is very fatigued, probably from two big days already this week. This is a roller coaster ride emotionally and physically BUT it shouldn't be such...I took a break and came back to the hotel and God gave me this: Romans 8:28 Everything works for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose. My prayer was then "Lord thank you for giving me peace even when I don't deserve it due to my lack of faith at times" God is Good all of the time. When the doctors keep enforcing their belief that we will be here a minimum of 4-6 weeks longer and quite possibly more then on to post acute inpatient rehab for a lengthy stay it rattles us BUT it shouldn't! God has CONTINUALLY shown us that HE ALONE is in control of this situation and HE ALONE will determine the healing process. Kristi is alive today BECAUSE of GOD ALONE! I think that our oldest son, Austin understands more than any of us "adults" have during this trial as he said the Creator made the doctors too so how can they know better than the Creator? I am so proud of Austin and I cannot wait to tell Kristi about the rock that she raised up from a baby! I further cannot wait to tell her about the love that you all have shown her with your CONTINUOUS prayers and acts of kindness. She will be so amazed and humbled, as our entire family already has been. with Renewed Peace and In Christ - Jay"

Prayer Request - 12/11

Harvey & Linda Slawson sent this message:  "Our son-in-law, Tyler Michael (married to Brianna), has been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer at the age of 23.  We ask that God cure him and free his body from this cancer and restore his health."

Update on Kristi Anthony

Posted by Jay at 11:45am:  Kristi swallowed some water with her speech therapist this morning and then she went straight to physical therapy where she moved her legs and feet on command and tried to high five the PT! She is now in occupational therapy. She broke down and started crying this morning after ST because she realized that she couldn't remember things that she wanted to remember (this is good though). She told the PT her name and she is wanting to move forward. The doctor gave us a possible discharge date of January 16 BUT that is a guess and I know OUR GOD and my wife and she is progressing much faster than modern medicine can predict. GOD IS GOOD and HE IS IN CONTROL!!! Please remember Austin today as he will be returning home and this is ALWAYS hard on us all. Tyler and Cody need your prayers too as they are home without us even though they are all being cared for very lovingly. Sandy and I need your prayers for strength, which God supplies daily. Remember the boys testing (Tyler and Cody have more on Thursday) and Kristi's progress towards her complete healing. AGAIN God is Good - Jay

Prayer Request - 12/11

Update on Kristi Anthony

Posted by Austin at 7:15pm:  "Today has been a pretty good one. Mom did a lot of rehab and she is worn out. Hopefully she will sleep good tonight. Everyday God shows the family just how many lives our mom has changed and inspired. It's amazing because the only way we could be saved was through the perfect Child of God, Jesus. He was so pure and sinless that whatever He said had to be the truth. Now my mom isn't Jesus and she isn't perfect but of every person I know she is the closest to Him. So there is no way this happened to her on accident. She is nice, kind, and generous to everyone she has ever met and that is why her story has inspired so many. May God bless you all and keep the faith no matter what man says or does. -Austin"

Posted by Austin at 10:15am:  "Mom is looking a lot better this morning. Thankfully there is a lot of therapy scheduled for today. She is getting tired but we keep telling her the more she does, the faster she gets to go home. Romans 8:37 "Know, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." -Austin"

Prayer Request - 12/10

Glen Barnett will be seeing a doctor about his legs.  Joy says that she hopes they will get some positive answers.

Our Sympathy...

Our sympathy is extended to the family of Kathleen Williams as they are grieving her passing today.  Kathleen was a retired North Lamar home ec teacher. Her services are pending with Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.

And also, local business man, Bill Rheudasil, passed away today.  His services are pending with Bright Holland Funeral Home.

Updates on Kristi Anthony

Posted by Austin at 6:10pm:  "Sitting here with mom, she is responding great this afternoon! (Even nodded yes to me asking if Johnny Football was about to win the Heisman lol). She has been smiling and mouthing words to us all day long. She is glued to the TV and looks very happy. It's been an all around great day. Praise God Almighty. -Austin"

Posted by Jay around 11am:  "Psalm 30:5 - this has been our real-life guiding passage through this trial "For His anger lasts only a moment, but His favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning." - Kristi just said my name!!! I can tell you that was the greatest sound I've heard...it was very faint but she said it none-the-less. Then Austin got her to say his name too. It was great. Finally she mouthed "I want to go home". His blessings are truly "new every morning...GREAT is thy faithfulness" - Jay"

Posted by Austin around 10am:  "Mom's a lot more alert today, however there isn't much therapy scheduled for today. She is smiling a lot more than previous days. The speech therapist came in this morning. #Psalm32 -Austin"

Prayer Request - 12/7

Anita Roden had surgery today at Medical Center/Tyler.  It was fusion surgery on her neck.  Paul Gene said it went well and she is in recovery.

Update on Kristi Anthony

‎Posted at 9:15pm:  1 Corinthians 6:14 "Now God has not only raised the Lord, but will also raise us up through His power." Mom is resting now, she isn't as alert has previous days, but we are praying she will be tomorrow so the rehab will be more effective. Please pray specifically that she is more alert and aware tomorrow. It's very frightening for her when she isn't aware of her surroundings. We ask that you continue to pray with your heart. Thanks again for everything you all have done and continue to do. -Austin"

Posted Friday afternoon from Jay:  "Not a very productive day in rehab...the night nurse gave Kristi sleeping medication and pain medication AFTER I told her not to. She said it was ordered by the doctor which I found out today was ONLY as needed. So needless to say Kristi has been very tired and fairly unresponsive and since they rehab is very limited on weekends it will now be Monday before she really gets to do anything. FRUSTRATION describes this day. I have asked to speak to the nurse manager time and time again to discuss the "night" medications but have yet to see him. I have been asking since we got here for an EP cardiologist to follow her and have not been given an answer on that either! GOOD NEWS...All of the therapists (Physical, Speech, Occupational, and Recreational) are top-notch caring professionals and what the nurses are so lacking in the therapists make up. Obviously this process will have ups and downs and we must rely on God's goodness to get us through and we must be patient and long-suffering with others. It's sometimes hard to do though. Happy Birthday Cody! In Christ - the Anthony's"

Prayer Request - 12/7

Lesa Bulls' sent this update on co-worker, Kenny Sanders:  "His wife called this morning and said that his right kidney is functioning now and his left kidney is not working.  His levels are lowering and that is good news.  He will have surgery next week.  Please continue to pray for him."

Kristi Anthony Update - 12/6

Posted by Jay at 7:15pm:  "Today has been extremely busy for Kristi. We are glad to be at the rehab hospital but moving from a continuous critical care unit where the medical staff is monitoring Kristi 24/7 to a unit where no one is really "watching" is quite scary after what we went through just 3 weeks ago! It is part of the process though and God will lead us through it. Pray for endurance and strength for Kristi tomorrow as she begins her aggressive rehab. Please remember Cody and us as tomorrow is our "baby's" 12th birthday and we will be without him and he without us. Kristi also makes a really big deal on our boy's birthdays. Continue to pray that Austin, Tyler, and Cody will get great results from the genetic testing. I feel like I am asking you all to do so much praying for us BUT it works...God has blessed us greatly. Thank you all for taking so much time and energy to bring our trials and concerns before our Father. In Him Always - Jay"

Posted by Kristi's brother Mike:  "Kristi is officially at UT Southwestern's Zale Lipshy Neuro Rehab unit!!!! This is the next step in her recovery. God has blessed her continuously throughout this venture. He has also placed each of you in a position to pray daily for her full healing. Thank you!!!! Now we need to focus our prayers towards the rehab process. She can do it! She will do it!!!!
Remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint. God bless!"

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:  Effective today.....Kristi will only be able to have visitors on Sundays during her rehab stay.  ONLY SUNDAYS. You may visit with Jay or Sandy at any time.

WoooHOOOOO!!!!!

Jay posted around noon:  "We are just sitting in our ICU room waiting for the doctor to come examine Kristi and hopefully discharge us to be transferred to Zale Lipshy! We will keep you posted."
And then I just received a call from Robyn and Russell Figgins, who are there with them today, and she said that Kristi just left Baylor in an ambulance and is on her way to Zale Lipshy NOW to get her all moved in!  She said that Kristi is doing really well and that the nurses made a notebook for her, that they'd all written in it and took pictures with her.

GOD IS GOOD!  PRAISE THE LORD!!  WoooHOOOOO!!!!!

Prayer Request - 12/6

Lesa Bulls sent this message about long time teacher at Stone Middle School:  "Please keep Kenny Sanders in your thoughts and prayers.  He had an unexpected surgery on his kidneys last night.  He is in Baylor Hospital/Dallas."

Updated on Kristi Anthony - 12/6

Posted by Jay last night:  "Romans 11:6 - "But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace." Sitting in our hospital ICU room looking at Kristi as she recovers more each day I am so thankful that God gives from His great love and NOT what I deserve! 21 days ago our world was turned upside down and our priorities were completely changed. What was so important then is meaningless now. God, Family, friends. and others are really all that matter now. Being human I realize that we all suffer from short-term memory and the law of diminishing intent BUT I pray that this trial has forever changed me, my family, and all others who have been touched by this event. I have learned (hopefully forever) to TRUST in Him ALONE. I pray that I will never again lean on my own understanding and abilities because I have seen that they are so lacking when they are outside of my control and narrow focus. I have learned that I really don't have any control over anything that has lasting meaning. People are all that really matter in this life and without God we have absolutely NOTHING. I hope that this trial has brought us all to the Masters throne. He wants nothing more than our hearts and nothing less than our all. Our life was so busy before this that I often neglected the important to care for the urgent. When the important was almost taken away I then saw clearly that everything that was so urgent was really just a distraction from God and the people who mattered most. I also had my hope renewed in the human race. It is so easy to only see the bad in our world but when my family was in real need people that I have never even met (nor may ever see) came to our aid with cards, gifts, food, visits, and countless PRAYERS. I will never be able to thank you all for everything that you have done and continue to do for us. My prayer is that each and every person who reads this will be blessed as much as my family has been through this trial. - In Christ, Jay"

  • Richard Peace was released from the hospital today and is recovering at home.

  • Derald Bulls' tests have all come back normal.  He's still waiting for the pathology on the blood from his knee.  He's still in a lot of pain.
  • Payden Daniels (Kimberly's son) has been really sick for the last week.  The Dr. called Kimberly tonight and said he has tested positive for Shigella.  He's changed his antibiotics and has told her to keep him isolated through this weekend.  He will be doing more tests on Sunday.  If these antibiotics don't work, the next step will be for him to be admitted to the hospital.  Please pray specifically that the meds work!

  • Zeke Wood's knee surgery is scheduled for Dec. 18.  (Kevin and Stacey Wood's son.)

Updates on Kristi Anthony 12/5

Posted by Jay at 10:15am:  "O taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! Psalm 34:7-9 - Everyday the Lord awakes us to new a blessing. Another kiss this morning and Kristi is really wanting to speak! I was explaining things to her and she comprehends what I am saying. Kristi is confused as can be expected with all that she has gone through and her eyesight is not good now but all of that can be corrected. The nurse from Zale Lipshy told us this morning that we may move as early as tomorrow and we will be there at least 30 days. We will get the rehab needed to heal there and we know that God is in Control! Please pray for continued complete healing, good EEG results (having this done as I post this), good results from our boys testing, and strength/endurance for our family. God's GRACE to you all - Jay"

Update on Kristi Anthony - 12/4

Posted by Jay at 6:15pm:  "God is in Control!  Kristi is starting to come around from the surgery today. Yes, that beautiful smile was the first thing that Sandy and I got to see. Austin had to go home today after seeing the EP cardiologist and Tyler and Cody went back to Paris yesterday. Please pray for our boys as they are without us during this time (and we too miss them), pray for Kristi's continued complete recovery and success at rehab, and pray for a healthy report on Austin, Tyler, and Cody (which may take 8 weeks or more) and you can imagine how concerned we are during this wait BUT we will trust in the Lord as He has ALWAYS been faithful and ALWAYS will be! Many thanks for your diligent prayer attitudes - Jay"

Posted at 3pm:  Kristi's surgery went great. Now all 3 boys have started the testing. Pray without ceasing. Our love to you all - the Anthony's

Posted by Jay at 8am:  "Psalm 37:5 "Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust Him and He will help you." Please remember that Kristi will be having the surgery for the AICD today at 10 am. The night was a little difficult as Kristi was having some trouble initiating breaths on her own. Austin will see the EP cardiologist today around 11:30 to begin the evaluation. Tyler and Cody began their evaluations yesterday.   It could take 8 weeks or more for the results. PLEASE pray specifically that Kristi's procedure will go well, that her breathing will be strong, that Austin's testing goes well, and that Austin, Tyler and Cody do not have any problems with their hearts. God is in Control! We are forever grateful to all of you faithful prayer warriors! - Jay"

Posted at 11am:  "The Anthony Family believes in miracles! This morning I was greeted with Kristi wanting to give me a kiss. Then Tyler and Cody came into the room and Kristi kissed them too. What an awesome God we serve. There is a chance that Dr. Edwards will do the surgery to implant the AICD today around 2:30. The nurse from Zale Lipshy came in today and approved Kristi for rehab NOW it is up to the insurance company, Blue Cross and Blue Shield. I will be taking Tyler and Cody to the pediatric EP cardiologist today at 12:30 to begin their evaluation for genetic testing and Austin goes tomorrow at 11:30. Please PRAY for these tests to be very GOOD NEWS. KEEP PRAYING and MANY THANKS - Jay"

Posted last night:  "I would like to ask everyone 2 please have a special prayer for our 3 boys, Austin, Tyler and Cody. They have to be tested tomorrow and Tuesday for the condition that caused Kristis problem. We ask that you would add this to your prayers. Jay"

Posted at 8am:  "GOD IS HEALING Kristi NO DOUBT! Yesterday the nurses moved Kristi to a "Barton Chair" for a few hours to help with skin care and avoid muscle atrophy. Kristi did attempt to nod her head and it seemed very possible that she was also trying to speak to us. - the Anthony's"

Posted at 8am:  "Today as so many of our friends gather to worship God together we would like to ask your church family to THANK God for all that He has done for Kristi and for continued complete healing. This is going to be a big week for us with a surgery scheduled and hopefully a move to either rehab (or an LTAC if we don't yet qualify for rehab)...either way please pray for REAHAB (or an LTAC if Kristi is not yet ready) otherwise the other option is a lower level of care which Kristi is not healthy enough for...(insurance driven medical care) Our MANY Thanks - the Anthony's"

Prayer Request - 12/1

Margaret Lough sent this message tonight:  "My CA125 tumor marker test has been above the normal range for about 3 months. My last one was 47.9 this week. It's above normal when it hits 35. I've been having blood drawn every 3 weeks. There has been a little fluctuation but it has remained elevated. This could be the result of an infection or who knows what...or it can mean the cancer has returned and I will have to go back into treatment. My oncologist and I have decided it is time for a PET Scan. I am scheduled for December 14th.  Please pray the PET Scan gives us a definitive answer regarding the possibility of cancer.
I love you all and know you'll keep me covered in prayer. God is faithful and has blessed me so richly for so long. The waiting is the hardest part."

Prayer Request - 12/1 - 2:48pm

Wanda McFadden has been taken by ambulance to the ER this afternoon.  No other details are known at this time.

Sarah Dene Goree has been moved to the PRMC/3rd floor rehab.

Dianna Welch was released from the hospital yesterday and is at home!

Posted by Jay at 9am:  "This is the confidence which we have before Him, that if we ask anything according to His WILL, He hears us. And if we KNOW that He hears us in WHATEVER we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him." - 1 John 5:14-15 This is the verse that I woke up to on my phone this morning! Kristi got to see Cody for the first time since this began...you should have seen Kristi...her eyes were wide open and her smile was incredible!!! - It is wonderful. - More answered prayers - Thank God. - you all have been so faithful - the Anthony's"

Prayer Request - 11/30 - 8:22pm

Former LACOC member, Amber Offutt sent this message tonight:  "I have my routine CT scan, MRI, and oncologist visit this next Wednesday. I know everything will be ok, but the MRI will be a closed MRI and I am deathly scared of enclosed spaces. They are giving me a seditive to help me to relax during it, but I am still terrified. I get anxious just thinking about it. Please keep me in your prayers that they will not find anything and that I handle the MRI ok. God bless you and thank you in advance for the prayers."

Updates on Kristi Anthony - 11/30

Posted by Jay at 7:45pm:  "Please join us to pray that we have an "active" and good day tomorrow. This has been a sleepy day; I think that Kristi was too busy yesterday. God is Good and He is in Control! - Jay"

Posted by Jay at 3:30pm:  "Many people are asking about our move to another facility so I will try my best to outline it: We are waiting on Zale Lisphy to send a nurse by to evaluate Kristi Welch Anthony to see if she can be accepted into acute rehab. BCI (Baylor) will not do an evaluation until she is off of the vent. If neither accept her then we will have to go to a LTAC first. We need to EP Cardiologist to BELIEVE what he is seeing and approve the implant (ICD) so please pray for these specifics! - WE MUST KEEP Kristi protected from infections so please come and visit us (we need that) but if you have been sick or around sickness please understand that Kristi cannot be exposed to that. The doctors are concerned due to the influenza season. I hope everyone understands. An infection would be a major issue. God is in Control! Thank you all for EVERYTHING that you are doing. There are SO many caring people in this world. - Jay"

Posted by Jay at 8:10am:  Please pray that we can get the doctors to approve the ICD (the implanted pacer-defibrillator) BEFORE we leave the hospital. We had to be able to justify "progress and improvement" before the doctors would order that. God has granted both progress and improvement. It is scary to think that Kristi Welch Anthony would have to go through another surgery and be sedated again but it has to be done since KRISTI IS GOING TO BE HEALED. The neurologist has instructed the EP Cardiologist of his approval to do the implant so now the decision rests with the EP (Shapiro and ultimately Edwards)..Pray specifically PLEASE. - Jay

Posted at 8:05am:  After the neurologist examined Kristi Welch Anthony this morning she smiled that beautiful smile right at me. She is starting to have some pain and discomfort, which is hard to watch, but it is a sign that she is more alert. Words cannot express the emotions that each person felt when Kristi flashed that smile directly at them yesterday...EVERYONE broke out into tears. Our God is an AWESOME God! Thank you all for your kind words, gifts, and mostly PRAYERS (please keep those going constantly). I want to be certain that ALL of the glory goes to our Father. Many people have told me that we have been so strong through this BUT I can tell you FOR CERTAIN that it is NOT us...this is GOD's strength that he has blessed us with during this trial. There is no way that we could have held it together so please make sure that God gets ALL of the credit for ALL of the GREAT things that have happened. HE IS FAITHFUL. GOD IS IN CONTROL. - The Anthony's

Prayer Request - 11/29

Cleve Fendley was cutting a tree branch, with a chain saw, it popped back up and knocked the ladder from under him.  He took a serious fall and now has a compression verterbrae fracture.  He's now on crutches...very slowly.

URGENT Prayer Request - 11/29

Richard Peace will be going into emergency surgery today!  An x-ray, after a colonoscopy, showed a perforation in his colon.  They will try to repair the perforation and expect him to be in the hospital for several days.

Updates on Krist Anthony

Posted by Sandy Welch at 1:30pm:  I want to thank everyone for your continued prayers and love you are sending to Kristi. I walked in this morning and said Good morning sweetheart and she looked at me and smiled so big and I asked her if she knows how much I love her and she rapidly blinked her eyes. This brought me to my knees. I had been awake for hours before seeing her and had spent that time in constant prayer and praising God and giving Him all the glory forever. God answers prayer in His time and never, ever forsakes us. I have been asked by the staff to describe Kristi and I didn't hestitate. Kristi can walk into a room and it is like a brilliant ray of sunshine. She loves so deeply everyone no matter our faults. God is in control and I Bless God for this blessing upon Kristi. My love to all....Sandy and Mom to a wonderful daughter.

Jay posted at 9:10am:  "Kristi is listening to everything that I am saying to her and she is SMILING at me! Her eyes follow me when I move. This is the GREATEST day of my life. WHEN YOU PRAY TO GOD PRAY WITHOUT DOUBT even if what you are asking for is a miracle. Our love to all of those who are praying continually. - Jay"

Matt posted at 8:15am:  "Two Doctors now have confirmed her improvement. I love seeing a Dr's face when science can't explain a good fight for life!"

Matt posted this about his sister at 7:50am:  "Kristi opened her eyes fully, looked at me and smiled. She is answering questions by blinking. Also stuck her tongue out at the Dr when he asked her to! He said this is very positive and significant change. He then said "today, will finally be the good day we've been waiting for" My sister...is showing out!"

Prayer Request - 11/28

Averie Campbell, Greg and Lori's 14 year old daughter, will be having surgery on her ear next week and hopefully will restore her hearing.

Update on Kristi Anthony

Posted at 8:30pm:  "Well this has been some day. We had the trach procedure this morning and Kristi was heavily sedated which has caused her to sleep all day long...seems like going forward and moving backwards. Austin left tonight to go back home for school tomorrow; it is so hard to watch him thru the hospital windows as he walks to the parking garage and gets in the truck and drives away. Tyler and Cody seem a million miles away. I know that Kristi misses them so much. Prayer requests are that Kristi will respond more and be alert and that the sedatives will wear off quickly. That we will be accepted into the Zale Lipshy Rehab facility IF that is where God wants to heal Kristi Welch Anthony. Strength for Kristi and us all. God Is In Control. Ps 312:24 - Jay"

Prayer Request - 11/28

Zeke Wood will be having surgery on his leg within the next few weeks.  He has a growth on his leg that has gotten larger and now is really causing him pain.

Updates on Kristi Anthony - 11/27

Posted at 8pm:  "More answered prayers...we now have Kristi's information in front of someone very high up at UT Southwestern...so PRAY THAT THEY WILL ACCEPT KRISTI at Zale Lipshy!!! Pray Hard Please...this is very important."

Posted at 5:15pm:  "We saw definitive improvements today. Kristi blinked in response to the "pessimistic" doctors questions and she reached out towards him. Kristi tried to smile at my sister, Paula twice! Then they had to sedate her again to put the PEG tube in. Its frustrating to see baby steps then set backs from more sedation but it is part of the process. This will happen again tomorrow when they do the tracheostomy. We have now requested to be transferred to UTSW Zale Lipshy. They are experts in neurology and this is what we now need. PLEASE PRAY FOR THIS TRANSFER TO HAPPEN QUICKLY. We believe more strongly every day (I don't know how God can strengthen us in our weakness but He does) that God's plan for Kristi's FULL and COMPLETE recovery is in the works! After visiting 3 LTAC's I believe that it was confirmed that moving to an LTAC is NOT the right move now. Our specific prayer requests are a quick transfer to Zale Lipshy and continued complete healing. To God be ALL of the glory! Thank you again and again from our family - Jay"

Prayer Request - 11/27 - 2:05pm

Lesa Bulls sent this message:  "Please add Derald to list. He has been to Dr. twice & is in lots of pain with arthritis and fluid in knee and leg. He can't get comfortable or sleep. He's not tolerating meds very well either."

Posted around 12midnight:  "We are overwhelmed by your love and concern. Thank you for all of your faithful prayers and the great unity prayer at 6:00 pm! Here is where we stand and all of this is very new and confusing. Evidently the hospital wants to move us out very soon. They tell us that Medicare has a short window for us to be eligible for LTAC (Long Term Acute Care) which is the "step down" from a hospital but if we don't get transferred then we will only be eligible for a "nursing home" which is not acceptable and Kristi could never get enough professional care in her condition. It is strange because she has shown definite signs of progress these last two days. Tuesday they will place a PEG feeding tube then do the trach on Wednesday at 1:00. I have to leave my precious Kristi tomorrow to go search out these LTAC's to find the best one. I am very discouraged about leaving Kristi but it has to be done in order to find the best facility. Sandy and my sister will be with Kristi while I am gone. Please pray that God directs me to the best facility; the one where he wants Kristi to heal. Julie Ann (Shelton) has been wonderful to help us in this process. My sister-in-law Bobbie Welch is also helping find an LTAC. Your prayers are needed as God is still in Control and will heal Kristi completely. It is now when our faith must remain grounded in Him alone. I know that many have prayed without ceasing and you have been hurting deeply as we are but please keep the faith and continue to bring Kristi before Our Father. He is strong in our weakness. - In Him - Jay, Austin, Tyler, Cody, Sandy and our entire family."

Update on Jerry Pearce - 9:07pm

Yvonne Gentry sent this message:  "Dorothy just called with this information...The doctor says Jerry’s situation is very grim. He is being kept alive by the machines and when they are removed, it will be only a matter of hours. We’ve come home to get some rest and will return in the morning. At that time, we’ll give the directive to remove the machines and then we’ll wait. I’m sure this is what Jerry would want. Thank you for your prayers.”

Jerry Pearce Update

I just talked with Dorothy at 6:35pm.  They're still waiting to hear from the Dr., who is in evaluating Jerry now.  They performed an EEG first thing this morning and he's had no change.  He's had some reflex movement, nothing purposeful.

Prayer Request - 11/26 - 4pm

Judy Reeves (co-owner of ABC Learning Center) will be having cancer surgery at Baylor/Dallas tomorrow (Tuesday).  They will take a portion of her colon out and biopsy lymph nodes also. She went through chemo and radiation during the last week of September and during October.

Updates on Kristi Anthony - 11/26

Posted at 2:10pm:  Kristi needs your help right now. Up until today I believe that Kristi has received wonderful care here. The neurologist was even more positive this morning but after the CCU doctor gave us his negative "poor" outlook prognosis then everyone around here has changed their attitude completely. They are talking to us about making decisions in our heart. Furthermore the social worker who was supposed to be here early this morning to discuss long-term care facilities has not evn shown up yet...and I've asked for her. The truly amazing thing about this situation is that Kristi has made more steps forward yesterday and today than ever. She responded to both me and her brother Mike by blinking "yes" several times each. WHY are the hospital care givers giving up NOW? Kristi needs your prayers NOW and IF ANYONE KNOWS how to help us in this situation Kristi could use you NOW if you have any experience or expertise or advice. Austin, Tyler, Cody, and I need our Kristi and the world is a much better place with her. GOD is in CONTROL and HE will heal her. We cannot have the doctors give up when she is making progress...baby steps are still steps! - PLEASE - Jay

Posted at 10:05am:  A different doctor (pulmonary critical care) came in just now and told us very bluntly that the outlook for recovery was "poor". This time I didn't even break down because God immediately reminded me of David in 1 Samuel 16 - David was a "poor" choice for king in man's eyes. Most of the people in Hebrews 11 were also "poor choices"...I see a pattern of my God taking "poor" and making it powerful! Afterwards the nurse came in and said "he (the doctor) is not in control and God is". I am not being foolishly optimistic here (and for those of you who know me you know that is impossible for me anyway); God has given me such peace that He has more plans for Kristi. I ask for your continued prayers of complete healing. - Jay

Posted at 9:40am:  Kristi is stirring a little more today. Moving her left leg and her left arm a little more. She opens her eyes more often now. All encouraging things...God has renewed our strength each day. The doctors will probably do the tracheostomy soon. Our prayer today is for continued improvement with a complete healing as the result. PS 27:14 - Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. - Jay

Prayer Request - 11/25 - 10:07pm

Please pray for Ruth McFadden, she is in the PRMC/ER.  She has a virus and it's a precaution to keep her from becoming dehydrated.

Update on Kristi Anthony - 11/25

Jay posted this update at 7:20pm:  "Today was a very traumatic day for our family. It started with the neurologist giving us very difficult news from yesterday's MRI. I left the room and completely broke down. I went to be by myself to consider how to discuss the news with our boys. As I was praying God gave me the word that He was still in control and that I should trust in Him ALONE. It was then easy to pull it together and face the day and as He promised there were some good things that happened. Kristi opened her eyes more than she ever has and she moved her arms and legs some. The doctors are now discussing changing her ventilator over to a trach and eventually moving us to a longer term care facility. Depending on her progress they may implant a pacer-defibrillator prior to her move. This would be the best option for us but she needs to continue to show improvement before they can do this procedure. Our prayers now are that she will continue to wake up and respond and get out of the "fog" that she is in. A very good friend of ours told me today to PRAY WITH TENACITY...so that is what I am asking of you all! My cousin told me today also that the mind is the nearest thing to the soul that modern medicine can study and therefore in reality little is known about the mysteries of the mind...GOD IS IN CONTROL and ALWAYS will be. Please pray for Austin, Tyler, and Cody as well, they had to leave their precious Mother's side today to return to school tomorrow and they struggled greatly with having to leave. We can never thank you all enough for your unending prayers."
