Weekly Update - 8/24

Thank you to Doug Faires, Jay Spencer and Patrick Cannon for their messages to the parents, teachers and students as they start their new school year on Monday morning.

RESPONSES:
~Alissa Nutt asked for our prayers.  She knows she has made mistakes, but she has a beautiful, healthy son.  She said she can't change the past but is looking forward to the future.

KEEP IN YOUR PRAYERS:

  • Joe Daniels will have knee replacement surgery on Wednesday (8/27) at PRMC at 1pm.
  • Pete Taylor will have a heart cath at PRMC on Tuesday (9/2).
  • Kristi Anthony - continued physical and mental rehab.
  • Lance Johnson - ALS
  • Carole Anderson - PRAISE for the EXCELLENT yearly test results!
  • Ora Henderson is traveling to California to see family.
  • John White is in Stillhouse for rehab.  
  • Jean King - health
  • Jay Spencer's friend, Ken Tylor - cancer treatment.
  • Bettie Ashby's friend, Grady Martin - tumor on his liver. 90% chance that it's cancerous.
  • Billie Flippin - health
  • Maggie Kerby's grandfather, Bill Rudd - health
  • Sandra Smallwood's mother-in-law fell and broke her hip in 3 places.
  • Connelle Peace asked for prayers for Lisa Peace.  She was just diagnosed with breast cancer. Pray that she has a successful surgery and treatment plan.
  • Missionaries - Brent and Jill Nichols in Brazil, David and Laurie VanderPool in Haiti and for Ben O'Neal (Jean's son) as he is leaving for a mission trip to Italy.
BLOOD DRIVE: Push up those sleeves and prepare to save a life! Carter Blood Care will be here this Wednesday from 4pm-8pm in the OutReach Center.  If you didn't get the chance to sign up today...come join us.  Don't forget to bring your picture ID. All types of blood are needed.

ELDER LED SERVICE:  Wayne Kerby will be speaking to us this Wednesday night.

BACKPACKS FOR KIDS:  
Charlotte Grooms is continuing to accept donations of new backpacks or monetary donations for Justiss Elementary School.  New backpacks are greatly appreciated by the the students! Charlotte retired this year and yet, she continues this wonderful ministry.  Thank you!


WOMEN OF FAITH:  The conference will be held in Dallas, September 19th-20th.  Tickets are $81. These are 1st level seats and there are only 11 left.  You will be responsible for your own travel, food and hotel arrangements.  Contact Laura Cannon to purchase a ticket or if you have any questions.  903-249-3042.


SIMPLE SUPPER:  Simple Supper teams are gearing up to start cooking again!  There will be a meeting to encourage all those wanting to be added to one of our teams.  Please join them for a short informal meeting immediately after morning worship service on September 7th in Room 6.
