Update on Baby Avery

A couple of weeks ago I posted a prayer request from Tanya Welch about a friends grandbaby, Avery.  Tanya also wanted prayers for the Mommy and Daddy.  This is the update I received from her today:
"It has been a roller coaster ride for her and the Mama and Daddy.  So sad, yet so much to be thankful for.  This young couple may be having a faith eye opener as God gets their attention through this whole ordeal.
Last Sunday the doctor spoke with the parents, Trent and DaNeal, about putting the baby on a DNR and told them to expect the worse.  Avery was not doing well at all.
Monday was a new day!  Avery started responding to touch and was not seizing when they lowered her meds.  The nurses and doctors were quite amazed at the turn around from the previous 24 hours.
Today they are hoping that she is stable enough to transfer her to have an MRI done so that they can see if there has been any brain damage.
God is proving His existence in this young couples life and I pray that they are seeing the miracles He is doing right before them.
He may be opening the eyes of the medical staff as well.  The grandmother, Teresa, is very faithful and has not ceased praying and expecting God's answers to be good!  She is full of hope and nobody has yet squashed that!  How awesome is that?"

Thank you

Thank you for the calls, visits and cards.  A very special thanks for the prayers! We can all use a prayer!
God Bless,
Lynn and Joy Lowrey

Prayer Request - 12/10

Alexis Cowan sent this prayer request:  I have several friends that don't know Jesus and I would like prayers that God would just get a hold of their hearts!  I believe in the power of prayer and I just feel like the more prayers that can be said for them, the better.  One of my best friends, Jackson, another friend I grew up with, Kyla, and a friend I made recently, Beau.
I also need prayers for wisdom, I think it's what I need."

Christmas Baskets

CHRISTMAS BASKET INFORMATION:
The deadline to nominate a family is Sunday, 12/14.
The deadline to bring your basket to the church is Monday, 12/15. But don't bring the rolls until 12/21 so they won't get moldy. We still need a few more people to purchase groceries for the baskets. At last count, we were 10 volunteers short.
On Wednesday night after church, 12/17, we could use a few volunteers to help us shop for whatever groceries we lack.
If you nominated a family and are planning to deliver the baskets yourself, you don't need to bring anything to the building, but you can pick up your ham on Sunday, 12/21 and deliver the basket whenever you like.
There will be a handful of baskets that we need volunteers to deliver. If you are interested in doing this as a family or as a life group, let us know and we will give you the name and address of a family to deliver to. You can pick up the basket on 12/21 along with the ham.
Most of the baskets will be picked up at the church building through the benevolence ministry on 12/22.
If you have any questions or want to volunteer either to shop or deliver baskets, contact Nicki Beeler or Rachel Spencer.

Prayer Request - 12/2

This is from my friend Dustin May, concerning his wife Wendy:  Wendy had lab band surgery a couple of years ago.  The lap band has caused a hernia that corroded her stomach and had killed most of her stomach. The surgeon had to make about a 6 inch incision and he had to remove the majority of her stomach and the lap band.  He had to put in a feeding tube (temporary) and several drain tubes. He is concerned about it leaking because he didn't have alot of stomach left to work with. So everyone please pray that she has a complete and total healing with no complications in Jesus name! Thanks to everyone for your prayers. I know that Jesus is in control.

5th Sunday

Update on Sherry Welch - 11/25

Tanya Welch sent this message about Sherry Welch:  I talked to her tonight and she is still in the hospital in Tyler.  She did have a mini stroke sometime on Sunday. They have run many tests including on her heart and everything is clear. She says she passes all their "touch your nose" kind of tests from several different hospital doctors with flying colors.  However, she still has some numbness on her right side. She was able to walk today a short distance with a walker. She is now waiting on a room to come available at a rehab place there in Tyler.  She will be getting some therapy for the next several days and we will see how things go. Tonight when I talked to her, she was in good spirits.  Things are looking good but could still use lots of prayers on her behalf.

It still amazes me to think of all the destruction that happened during the ice storm last year.  But, what is even more amazing is the CLEAN UP that happened afterwards!  Thank you to all those who volunteered to get the church grounds and the land across the street free from all the downed trees and limbs.  A HUGE thank you to JB Tree Service also, here in Paris, who have used their talents to get rid of big trees and limbs.  If you ever are in need of a tree service, they are GREAT!  You can call Ricky or Tricia White at 903-517-0010.
