Laurie Beckmon will be having surgery at 6pm tonight at PRMC.  Once again, please no visitors unless you call Greg or Morgan first.

Our Sympathy ...

Please keep the family of Jimmy Wilson in your prayers.  After suffering a stroke on Sunday evening, he passed away tonight.
Jimmy had a heart transplant last year.
He had worked at McCuistian Hospital for many years and was also known as "The Bread Man".
Funeral arrangements are pending.

Update on Webber Woodall 10/28

Webber was in the ER today with chest pains and elevated blood pressure.  He is at home now resting well.

Please remember Bertie Wright, a friend of Ann Huffman, is having her 3rd heart surgery.

Also remember Doug and Karen Cato's friends, Robert and Joyce Brunson. Robert's cancer has returned with a vengeance. He will be in the hospital at least a month.

Webber Woodall has been taken back to the ER with chest pains and very high blood pressure.

Prayer Request - 10/27

We had Jimmy Wilson on our prayer list last year, as he received a heart transplant.  Jimmy suffered a stroke last night and was taken by CareFlight to Medical City/Plano.  He is breathing on his own, but there is substantial swelling on the right side of his brain.
Please keep Jimmy and his family in your prayers.

Judy Moore's heart cath has been cancelled for this week due to issues with her blood count.

Weekly Update - 10/26

Thank you Doug Faires for bringing our message today from the old hymn..."I Know Whom I Have Believed".  That old song teaches us about our faith and answers questions that anyone may have.
Patrick was the guest speaker at the MLK Church of Christ this morning, for their annual homecoming celebration.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

  • Bobby Salter - has been released from the hospital to continue his recovery at home.
  • Judy Moore will be admitted to PRMC tomorrow and will have a heart cath on Wednesday.
  • It was great to see Joe Daniels at church this morning, after a long recovery from knee surgery!
  • Adrian Casey - cancer issues.
  • Kanyon Phillips (Jay & Gay Spencer's grandson) - physical therapy

  • Jean O'Neal asked for prayers for her sister, who has dementia.  She also asked for prayers for Marcus Thompson for his health.

  • Continue to pray for our missionaries all over the world.  Especially Hector Olguin and Javier Ortiz in Mexico, Brent and Jill Nichols in Brazil and David and Laurie VanderPool in Haiti.
TRUNK OR TREAT:  This Friday night at 6pm there will be HUNDREDS of children and their parents who will line up, out in our parking lot, to receive candy and a smile.  We're still in need of a couple of trunks for candy and we're also in need of more volunteers. Can YOU help us?  There is a sign-up sheet on the Welcome Center, or you can call the church office and have your name added. Candy is provided and you will have a GREAT time! 

FAMILY RETREAT:  Sign up now for the weekend of November 14th-16th at Beaver's Bend.  See the Welcome Center for a flyer.

COLLEGE CARE PACKAGES:  There are a list of names on the bulletin board of our college kids to send a care package to.  There is also a list of items that might help you with packing the box.  Check with Jared Baggett if you have any questions.

SIMPLE SUPPER:  This weeks' entree is Square Pizza.  Please donate at least $2 per person.  If you didn't get the chance to sign up this morning, and would like to join us, you may call the church office and have your name added to the list.

I received this prayer request today..."Please pray for Halie Chambless and her health."  She is 18 years old.

Mid-Week Update - 10/23

Derald Bulls' friend, Mike Vaughan from Sulphur Springs, had 5 by-passes yesterday afternoon at Baylor/Plano.  Mike is the operations manager of all TaMolly's Restaurants and is originally from Clarksville.  He has a deep faith and is looking forward to getting this behind him and getting back to work.


Services for Wayne Brumley will be on Friday (10/24) at Richardson East Church of Christ.  Visitation at 10 with the service to follow at 11.  Address is: 1504 E. Campbell Road - Richardson, TX.  Church office:  972-231-8231.


Ella Chambers is in an ICU in Illinois.  Her grandson is attending PJC, his name is Trey Hoard.


There will be a Senior Fall Festival on Friday (10/24) from 3-6 at Celebrate It on Pine Mill Road.  The caregiver for Ken Love plans to take him to this event and wanted us to know so that maybe friends could come and visit with him during this time.


We still need more volunteers to work our annual Trunk or Treat.  Several more host trunks are needed also.  All candy is provided, just decorate your trunk!  Sign up at the Welcome Center.

In Memory of Jean Gibson

Laura Jean Bell Gibson, 88, of Paris, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Starrett Funeral Home will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Lamar Avenue Church of Christ, with Patrick Cannon officiating. Jean will lie in repose at the church from 10:30 a.m. until service time, as the family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until noon. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation and funeral service for Jean Gibson will be on Wednesday here at the church. Visitation is from 10:30-12:00 and the service will begin at 1:30. Starrett Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Weekly Update - 10/19

Thank you Patrick for bringing the lesson from Acts 3 this morning!  I can't imagine the man, never being able to walk, given the gift to walk again.

What a beautiful song service, that Stephen Gerald led us in!  I loved hearing that "new" old song...it was powerful!  (I noticed that it was written in 1951.)

RESPONSES:

  • Ora Henderson asked for prayers for her 15 year old granddaughter, Desiree, who has been having strokes.
  • Kathy Marshall asked for prayers for her sister, Judy.  She had double knee replacement and continues to be in terrible pain.
  • Molly Woodall thanked the church for all their prayers for Webber this past week, for his health.
SYMPATHY:
  • Our sister, Jean Gibson, passed away early this morning. No service details are known at this time.
  • Wayne Brumley passed away yesterday. He was married to Sandy Carroll.  Ed and Melba Carroll's son-in-law.

  • Macy Bryan was injured during a cheerleading stunt on Friday and suffered a concussion.

  • Congratulations to Louie and Marolyn Woodall ... they became great-grandparents this week.  Twin girls were delivered in New York, each weighing 4 pounds.

One of our co-workers' dad found out today that he has esophageal cancer and it is inoperable.  Please pray for Joe Todd, for peace and comfort and for his daughter Sonya.

  • Pete Taylor is on his way home from the hospital!
  • Bobby Salter said Dr. told him he might go home on Thursday if nothing changed.
  • Jeremy Offutt (son of William and Lucy) went into defib yesterday while teaching and it was midnight before they got it back into rhythm.  He is in Hopkins Co. Memorial/ICU 600G.

Prayer Requests 10/14

Webber Woodall was dismissed from the hospital today. Dr diagnosed him with pleurisy, which is an inflammation of the lining of the lungs. 

Pete Taylor had a procedure this afternoon to alleviate the heart issue he was having.

Bobby Salter had his leg surgery and will have to be off his leg for 6 weeks.

Jeremy Offutt was admitted to Sulphur Springs hospital with Atrial fibrillation. He is in cardiac step down unit.

Prayer Requests 10/14

Continue to keep Pete Taylor in your prayers!  He's in Room 433 at PRMC and still flat of his back!

Bobby Salter was to have surgery this afternoon, on his leg, at PRMC.  It's been almost 2 weeks since his accident.

Webber Woodall's heart cath went well this morning. No other blockages!!  They aren't sure what's causing pain or elevated blood pressure. They sent us back to same room. Don't know if he'll stay another night in hospital.

Pete had a stent put in on Friday morning. He had complications and is still in the hospital.  He is STILL flat of his back for precautionary reasons.

Roger Bryan has asked for prayers for their family, specifically for strength, as they try to care for his Mom and Dad.  His Mom was recently released from the hospital, still needing care.  His Dad requires care 24/7. 
And Stephanie's daughter, Elissa Armstrong, is slowly recovering from recent surgery.

  • Travis Trussell passed away suddenly Sunday morning from a massive heart attack.  Please keep Libby in your prayers.
  • A memorial has been set for Yvette Snow, daughter of John and Yvonne Gentry, Thursday (10/9) at Lakeland Baptist Church, 397 Stemmons Frwy, Lewisville, TX from 7-9 p.m.  Any memorials can be sent to Latch Key Program, Lamar Avenue Church of Christ, 3535 Lamar Avenue, Paris, TX 75460.  Please continue to pray for the family.
  • Gene Rader, local business man and movie star, passed away on Saturday. Please keep his son Randy and family in your prayers.


PRAYER REQUESTS:
  • William and Lucy Offutt - health
  • Dorothy Pearce was back with us Sunday morning.  She's already started her rehab.
  • Bobby Salter fell off a barn roof this past week.  He has a compound fracture.  He is in PRMC/Room 404 and will have surgery this week.
  • Joe Daniels is continuing rehab with his new knee.
  • Paul Garrett asked that we pray for his friend Mike Viehe.  His wife Billie passed away last week.
  • Next Sunday (10/12) there will be a special contribution for the wife of the missionary who was killed in a motorcycle accident.  Reina is in hospital now and thriving.  But, her medical bills will be massive.
  • Continue to remember our missionaries.  Brent and Jill in Niteroi, Brazile, Hector in Piedras Negras, Mexico, Javier in LaChona, Mexico and David and Laurie in Haiti.
TRUNK OR TREAT:  We will be hosting our annual Trunk or Treat on Friday, Oct. 31st.  If you are interested in being involved with this outreach opportunity, sign up sheets are available at the Welcome Center.  Get prepared for lots of visitors!  We have over a thousand people come to this event every year.

Patrick said that Travis was the last person he talked to this morning.  (There was a reason for that!)

Sabrina Thompson asked that we pray for a boy in her Pre-K class at Chisum.  His name is Asher Lott.  "He's a sick little boy, and they are headed to Children's to try to find out what's wrong.  He's battled fever and vomiting for days now and been sick for weeks."

  • Carole Anderson asked that we continue to pray for their cousin, Pat Goolsby, for strength and courage as she faces the future without her husband, of 52 years. (Curbe died recently.) Prayers for Pat's health to improve.
 
WEDNESDAY NIGHT CLASS CHANGES:  The Nehemiah Class taught by Elton Weeks will move to Room 6.  The Marriage Class facilitated by Mike Bishop will move to Room 17.
 
PANTRY NEEDS:  The pantry is getting low on everything!  Here is a list of what we generally keep stocked:  1 lb. bags of pinto beans or rice, peanut butter and jelly, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned meat, soups w/meat, canned vegetables, canned fruits, cereal, crackers, mac & cheese, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrush/toothpaste, toilet tissue, bar soap.  Thank you for helping those in need!
