Lesa Bulls' co-worker, Jana Kays' Mom, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.  Her prognosis is not good.

Derald Bulls sent this request:  "Glenna Preston, is a co-worker of mine here at PJC, her oldest grandson (step-grandson), Army Private First Class Sergio Gonzales, was injured by an IED a year ago in Kandahar and has been in rehab since then. They haven't been able to get his foot to heal, so they plan to amputate it and his lower leg in January ... after the holidays.  He has been receiving treatment at Brooke Army Medical Center for prosthetics and rehabilitation. Sergio (called Bubba by his family) was recently featured in Time Magazine receiving therapy (Photo #4). It is truly a great place for soldiers and wanted to share with you guys!"   Click on this link to see photos.

Sherry Welch's Mom, Hazel Cross, is having TIA's and getting weaker.  She still has her sweet spirit and good attitude.

Greg Wilson's Mom, Margaret Williams, is in PRMC/South after having surgery for cancer.
SIMPLE SUPPER:  Turkey & Cheese Sandwiches.

Kay Allen called that Phillip and Kristi Kirkpatrick's baby girl arrived early this morning.  Audrey Rose weighed 3 lbs 10 oz. She was born at St. Paul, Dallas. Kristi was resting well when Kay called.   Congratulations to the GREAT GREAT grandparents!

PRAISE:  Everyone arrived home safely from the Family Retreat!

PRAISE:  Sherry Welch's brother, Gary Cross, received good test results.

Our sympathy is extended to Lisa Bulls and her family, on the passing of her cousin, Betty Brockington, on Friday afternoon.  Betty had brain cancer and was at peace.  Visitation will be Friday night (11/25) from 6p-8p at Byrum Funeral Home 425 North Dallas Avenue Lancaster, TX.  Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday morning (11/26) at the funeral home.


We will have a Thanksgiving Devo on Tuesday night at 6:30.  No classes will meet.

Due to the holidays, there will be NO Simple Supper this week.

The church office will be closed Wednesday - Friday of this week.  (Nov 23-25)

Tyi Leonard (teenager from Roxton injured in car accident) had surgery today on his back and they also did the surgery on his hand.  He is doing well.  Please keep him in your prayers!

Paul Dearinger (preacher at Christian Fellowship) has been in a Dallas hospital this week going through many tests and biopsies.  His cancer has come back and has spread.  Please keep him and his family in your prayers.

Derald Bulls sent this message today:  "Mrs. Bobbye Roberts had a stroke and has been in the ICU at PRMC since Sunday. Her son, David, sent an e-mail just a few minutes ago that said her infection had broken and she woke up, which she had been very docile. They sat her in a chair. She is somewhat alert but not talking yet but responding."  (Derald also added some back info...Mrs. Roberts is the former controller at McCuistion Regional and the lady whom I credit with hiring me at the hospital in June 1979 as the Credit Manager….and then I transitioned to the Community Relations Director in Dec. 1981..wow that was a long time ago! Some people know her husband, TV, who was a rural mail carrier for many years.)

We will have a Thanksgiving devotional on TUESDAY night (11/22) in the auditorium. There will be NO CLASSES and no Simple Supper served.

  • Jean O'Neal's, daughter-in-law, Jane O'Neal, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday (11/9).
  • Mike Kennedy's mother, Gwyneth Kennedy, passed away on Tuesday (11/8).
  • Destiny Johnson, 43, of Paris passed on Tuesday.  Her services were on Saturday.
  • Vicki Williamson (former member) Dad, L.D. Fisher, passed away on Sunday morning.  No other details are known at this time.
  • Alvin Buchanan is recovering from gallbladder surgery last Friday.
  • Anita Roden is recovering at home from neck and spine surgery in Tyler.
  • Phyllis Giguere has been moved to Health South/Plano for her final rehab.  She should be home in about 2 weeks....taller & lighter! 
  • Ed Bullard's sister, Hazel Auldridge, is in PRMC/S with blood clots.
  • Janet Christ's friends, Mark & Jeanne Caldwell's son is having health issues.  He had an MRI test that did not come back with the news they wanted. 
  • Anna Zant's Mom, Christine Mashburn, has been moved into Brentwood Terrace here in Paris.
  • Lisa Cross, Sherry Welch's niece, is experiencing kidney problems.
  • Anna Zant's friend, Zelma Henry, has contracted an infection after taking chemo.
  • Carl Ray Hatcher, Dinah Border's friend, fell and broke his hip.  Had surgery and it was a success.
The 31st Annual Family Retreat is THIS WEEKEND!!  Bring snacks, drinks, games and bedding for each family member.  Come for a great time of spiritual renewal and physical relaxation with your church family.  Please sign-up at the Welcome Center so we can plan for food.  The church rents the campsite and the families share the cost of meals.  The theme this year is:  "Created to Be".

 
The Annual Thanksgiving Dinner will be served on Wednesday, November 16th. If you know someone that will not be having a Thanksgiving meal at their home, please invite them to come eat with us! There is a sign-up sheet at the Welcome Center for those who would like to come. There's also a sign-up sheet for those who are willing to make desserts for this meal.

 
SIMPLE SUPPER: This weeks' entree is Turkey & Dressing. Please donate at least $3 per person. If you weren't able to sign-up on Sunday morning, and want to join us, call the church office by noon on Tuesday.

Prayer Request - 11/14 - 8:41am

Jamie Hyatt's Mom, Wanda Howard, has fallen at the nursing home and hit her head.  She has no bleeding on the brain but she did fracture her right hip and her white blood count is way too high.  She will be having hip surgery at 4pm today.  Wanda was supposed to start chemo treatments today, for lung cancer, but it will have to be put on hold.

Prayer Request - 11/13 - 6:40pm

My friend, Stefany Ellis, just called with a prayer request regarding 4 teenagers who were involved in a one car accident, early this morning, north of Roxton.
Kelsie Simpson, Katrina Gaton, Tyi Leonard and Kalyl McGuire were involved in a one car accident early this morning, north of Roxton.
Kelsie Simpsonthe driver, was CareFlighted to Parkland, but was released earlier today with a neck brace and a leg brace.
Kalyl McGuire was taken to PRMC and released earlier today.  Stitches on his face and road rash all over.
Katrina Gaton, not sure of her injuries.
Stefany's cousin, Tyi Leonard, was CareFlighted to Parkland and is paralyzed from the waist down.  Spinal surgery will be done on Tuesday.  A rod and pins will be placed right about the tailbone, where it's broken. Please pray that the surgery will be successful and the paralysis will be temporary. He will also have plastic surgery on one of his fingers, to repair it.
These 4 need our prayers, as will their families, doctors and nurses.

Smithy & Kay Allen's granddaughter, Kristi Kirkpatrick, has been taken to a hospital in Dallas.  She is only 30 weeks into her pregnancy and her water broke today.  She has not gone into labor yet,   They may be able to delay labor for only 2-3 days. 

Phyllis Giguere has been moved back to Health South/Plano for her rehab.

John McGee sent this message:  "Donna's sister, Jennifer Hutchings, is back in the hospital in Dallas and is having difficulty from her recent surgery.  She is very weak, from not being able to eat anything and needs prayers at this time."

Jean O'Neal received word after church, last night, that her daughter-in-law, Jane, had passed away.  This is such a shock for the family, please keep them in your prayers for comfort.

Mike Kennedy and his family sent this message:  "Mom, Gwyneth Kennedy, passed away quietly Tuesday night around 8:30pm.  Our family is so thankful for the prayers for her.  She is now on the higher plain with Jesus and rejoined with our family members who have gone on before her.  The celebration of her life will be this coming Monday at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, where her ashes will be interred with Dad's. Thanks for the care and concern from our LifeGroup and the congregation."

Alvin Buchanan will have gallbladder surgery at 1pm on Friday at PRMC.

Anita Roden had neck and spine surgery today in Tyler.  She will be coming home tomorrow.

Allison Hanley fainted while giving blood tonight.  She's all better now!  Pretty scary for a few minutes there!

Kristi Bullard Moody sent this message tonight:  "Dad's (Ed Bullard) sister, Hazel Auldridge, is in the hospital.  She had a Sporadic blood clot that broke into 3 & is now in her lungs. His brother-in-law Johnie Douglas had a skin cancer removed from his nose. My grandbaby Kamrie will have a barium swallow in the morning & my daughter Haley a test in the afternoon with surgery Tuesday."
 
Debra Usry's sister, Julie Kay Smith, is still in PRMC/South/Room 620.  She is continuing to have numerous health issues.
 
Dinah Border's friend, Tyler Graham, came home from Afghanistan for a visit.  He was sent to North Carolina afterwards and is still there.  Hopefully he won't have to go back!
Also, Cade Mahan (the 12 year old burn survivor) is doing well.  He still has to wear the compression garmets.  His grandfather, Lloyd Mahan, has numerous blockages in his heart.  No surgery is planned at this time.

Jean O'Neal just received a phone call from her son, Ben.  He took his wife, Jane, to the ER last night.  She has been diagnosed with a "flesh eating disease" and probably won't survive.  Ben and Jane were just here 2 weeks ago visiting with Jean.  Please keep their family in your prayers.

Our sister, Destiny Johnson, 43, of Paris passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at her residence. Arrangements are pending at Fry Gibbs Funeral Home.  No other details are known at this time.

Lindsay McCarter just sent this message:  "Please add the Gaither family to your prayers.  (Their daughter is Dusti.  She had cancer and we've prayed for her for a long time.)  Their house was  damaged in the tornado that hit close to Honey Grove today.  Please pray that insurance will cover the damage, since they are still struggling to pay bills from Dusti's illness." 
Update:  The swingset and playhouse that the Make A Wish Foundation built for little Dusti is completely destroyed.

Clint & Rachel Spencer's daughter, Roselyn, broke her arm last night.  She had surgery and they inserted pins.  She did great!  They are kept her overnight and she came home this morning.  She has a sling right now, but will get a cast on Friday.

Lesa Bulls sent this message for her friends:  "Please put out a request for Charlie Rhodes. He and Patsy are on the way for a consult w/pulmonologist this morning. They are still trying to determine the spot on his lung. He may have to have the upper portion removed. The dr. still doesn't think it's cancer, but it is resistant to anti-viral and anti-fungal meds. They will know more this afternoon. This puts the stem cell treatment on hold for a while."

Our sympathy is extended to Leston Maggard and family in the death of his brother Stanley. Funeral services are 2pm on Monday afternoon in Atoka, Oklahoma.
 
Please continue to remember the Abilene Christian University family as they mourn the loss of their fellow student, Anabel Reid. She died Friday of injuries from the one-vehicle bus accident that sent 16 people from ACU to area hospitals. Seven remain hospitalized, three in critical condition. They are in hospitals in Dallas, Abilene and San Angelo.
 
Thank you to Richard Baggett for bringing the video about Eastern European Missions. They are celebrating their 50th Anniversary on November 19th in Dallas.

  • Alan Boyd is also at home recovering his surgery on Friday.
  • Sue Munday has been released from rehab and is at home.
  • Alvin Buchanan will have gallbladder surgery on Friday 11/11.
  • Brad Shelton was at church this morning. Great to see him after his heart surgery.
  • Qwyneth Kennedy (Mike Kennedy's Mom) is in Hospice at this time and only has weeks to live. The cancer has now spread to her liver.
  • Jennifer Hutchings (Donna McGee's sister) has had complications from a recent surgery.
  • Charles Siebert (Patrick Cannon's friend) has been diagnosed with cancer. He lives in the Abilene area.
  • Sue Shipman (Dinah Border's friend) has breast cancer.
  • Hazel Cross (Sherry Welch's Mom) is in lots of pain.
  • Curbe Goolsby (cousin of Lewis Anderson) is in bad health and getting worse. He can't walk very well now.
  • Elizabeth Melton (friend of Renee Crews) is in physical therapy.
  • Vannessa Bills (Sharon Thielman's friend) is continuing to recover from an automobile accident 2 years ago. She wants to be able to walk again.
  • Michelle Jenkins (co-worker of Lesa Bulls) is having issues with loss of her Mom, 2 weeks ago.
  • Tanya Welch asked for prayers for our college students. That they will have direction and peace in making decisions about their future. Please encourage them, each chance you can.
  • Jerry Savage (friend of Larry & Janet Christ) has Non-Hodgkins cancer. He is a preacher in South Dakota. His daughter attends Harding and will be getting married in December.
  • Please continue to remember the employees at Sara Lee, for their job situations and as they all find other jobs.

These are the items routinely stocked in the pantry, and can always be used: Any type of canned meat (tuna, chicken, Spam, Ham, Vienna sausage), canned vegetables, canned fruit, spaghetti and sauce peanut butter/jelly, macaroni/cheese, hot/cold cereal, cornbread mix, 1 lb pkgs of beans/rice and crackers.

Urgent Prayer Request - 11/4 - 9:41pm

An Abilene Christian Univeristy bus, with 16 occupants aboard, were heading to Medina Children's Home (for a weekend of mission work) this afternoon when they had a one vehicle crash.  1 student, Anabel Reid, a sophmore at ACU, has died.  Seven of the passengers are being treated; six are in stable condition, one is in critical condition and is being moved to ICU.  (This info is from the ACU website.)

Tim & Lisa Masters, found their 21 year old son, Alex, dead this morning.  The Masters moved from Paris to Mena, Arkansas last year to take care of ailing parents.  (Tim was an former employee of the Red River Valley Fair Association.  Lisa worked for Alltel/Verizon.)

  • Destiny Johnson was baptized on Monday by John Janes.  She is 43 years old and is in the last stages of her life.

  • We are so happy to have our Haley Bulls back in Paris.  She started a new job with Paris Nursing and Rehab on Tuesday!  Welcome back Haley!!

Prayer Request - 11/2 - 3:08pm

Mike Kennedy sent this message:  "This prayer request is for my mom, Qwyneth Kennedy.  She has been recuperating from colon cancer surgery in Mesquite and about to commence radiation and chemo therapy when she started feeling bad and was found to have contracted pneumonia. She kept getting weaker and my sister put her in Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas two days ago. During their evaluation, it was discovered that her cancer had reappeared in her liver. Her surgeon/oncologist feels that due to her weakened state, any radiation or chemo therapies are out of the question at this time. He recommended placing her in a Hospice situation as soon as she is strong enough and barring a miracle of some sort, she only has "weeks" to live."  (Mike's Mom is a long time member of the Highland Oaks Church in Dallas.)

Tammy Braudaway, former member, passed away on Friday Oct 28 in Medical City Hospital in Dallas.

The family will receive friends today from 4-6 pm (Wed/Nov 2) at Wood Funeral Home in Deport.  There will be no funeral service.


Dr. Katie Wicks (she and her husband Colton are the new owners/opthamologist at Paris Optical) is expecting her second baby in December.  Katie started having chest pains last week and was taken to the ER, then transferred to Baylor/Dallas where it was determined she has bilateral pneumonia.  She's now in ICU on a vent.  Please pray for sweet Katie!  (Just a few years ago, Katie's older brother Adam Wheat, was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident.)

Angie Sulsar's Dad, Kenneth Claypool, passed away this morning. No other details are known at this time. 
Randy Jones, the band director at North Lamar High School, has taken his wife to Wichita Falls to be with her sister.  The sister has pancreatic cancer.  She and her husband were on their way to the hospital on Monday morning, for her to start new treatments.  They stopped to eat breakfast and she started slurring her speech. Her husband immediately rushed her to the hospital, and it was determined that she was having a stroke. Prayers are needed for the entire family.
