Update on Kristi Anthony - 12/30 - Pray LOUD and by name!

Posted by Jay this afternoon:  Recently our son Austin posted this quote by his favorite Christian rapper:
"You can pray but Faith is dead if you don't get up and work your legs" -Lecrae
It made me think about Kristi's situation (even though that was not why he posted it). Kristi is still able to pray to God and she does all of the time. This I know because I ask her. I pray with her too (out loud). However, she lacks faith in her own abilities and harbors a tremendous amount of fear mostly because she cannot remember how to walk and because of her condition she cannot visualize the process.
This quote gave me an idea...why don't we all pray for God to give Kristi faith in the strength that He has supplied for her to walk? She has the physical ability to be able to walk but she doesn't have the confidence or the ability to visualize the process.
If we ALL pray with unity for God to give Kristi faith in the strength and ability that He has supplied to her then I firmly believe that it will be done! God is greater than her memory deficits, YES He most assuredly is! God is in Control! - Jay"

Prayer Request - 12/4

One of my sweet little grandfriends, Kimrie Dean, is at the ER right now with severe stomach pain.  The ER is packed...her Mom said she's curled up in a ball and crying, she's hurting so bad.  Please pray that they can get to her really fast!

Prayer Request - 12/4

Bennette Russell's Mom, Dorothy Holland, was admitted to PRMC/North this afternoon.  Please keep her in your prayers.

Update on the Anthony family - 12/4

Posted by Jay earlier this evening:  "I just spoke with Tyler and Cody's pediatric EP cardiologist's office. They are looking into both boy's EKG's for the "J-point repolarization abnormality". Preliminaries look like the same observation may be present in all three boys. This could very well be nothing and I BEG YOU TO PRAY THAT IT TRULY IS NOTHING.
Again, this same indicator is present in about 10% of all young males but the reason for increased concern here is due to it being present on Kristi's, which is not typical of her demographic. This could be just really good "due diligence" by all three EP's! The doctors at John Hopkins and (I believe) Mayo are looking at this too.
PLEASE ask the Father for our boy's good health. We are truly concerned but WE BELIEVE HE IS IN CONTROL! - Jay"

Our Sympathy...

Daniel posted this message around 7pm tonight:  "Doctors have confirmed that Emmie has lost all blood flow to the brain, with an MRI scan. She is gone. Please continue to pray for my family, this loss will leave a big hole that we will need filled with the love of God."
Please keep Joe, Trish, Daniel and Brooke all in your prayers.

Update on Kristi and Austin Anthony - 12/1

We found out some information on Wednesday but due to the Thanksgiving holiday I didn't want to relay this information until afterwards but WE DESPERATELY NEED YOUR PRAYERS for our family.

On Wednesday Austin had an appointment with Kristi's EP Cardiologist and they think that a potential genetic defect may have been found that has been found on Kristi's EKG and now Austin's as well. Next they... will look at Matt's, Tyler's, and Cody's to see if it is present there also. Potentially Sandy and Mike too will be evaluated.

The EP described this genetic condition as "new science" that has just been discovered within the last year and is still relatively unknown. The condition is a "repolarization" issue of the heart rhythm and is called "J-Point abnormality". I understand very little about it so far and can't even begin to explain it. They are under the impression that the fix is to implant an AICD (pacer-defibrillator). Hopefully we will be able to find out more very quickly.

The evaluation process could be rather lengthy since this is so new. I will pray that we find out about Cody and Tyler quickly since they too are at risk. Matt already has an AICD therefore he is protected but Sandy and Mike and possibly Mike's two children are at risk . Since Kristi lost her job due to her condition and we will only have COBRA until the end of next November it is critical that everyone gets treatment (if needed) before then! I'm praying that the defect will not show up on anyone else!

Please pray for this very concerning situation for our boys and Kristi's mom, brother, nephew, and niece. WE NEED YOUR PRAYERS FOR OUR FAMILY and THANK YOU for faithfully continuing to bring us before the Father. - Jay

Update on Emmie Hayes - 12/1

Daniel Hayes posted this earlier about his sister, Emmie:  "The doctors told us that they were going to administer three tests to confirm that my sister is brain dead. The neurologist began the first test to and Emmie began to breath and lifted her hand from her side to her face. They cancelled the other two tests. The doctors are trying to prepare us for the worst, but I know God is present and is responsible for these victories. Pray for healing, that her brain stops swelling and she continues to show improvement."

Update on Mike Grigsby - 11/19

Mike's heart tests came back clear.  They think his pain is from a hernia or muscle.  Should be going home this afternoon.

Monday, November 18, 2013

Prayer Request - 11/18

Mike Grigsby was admitted to PRMC/Room 447 due to chest pains and shortness of breath.  He is waiting on a heart cath to be scheduled.

Update on Austin Anthony - 11/18

Tests are DONE!  Dr. could not initiate a disarythmia so that is good news.  He will implant a recorder/monitor within a few weeks to watch for events.  There are some things to watch for on EKG and meds to take and he must carefully watch hydration and nutrition.

Update on Doris McGill - 11/18

Karen Cato sent this message this morning:  Mom is having a hard time.  She had surgery on her arm and they put a rod into it hoping to get it strong enough to help her maneuver around.  They cannot fix her hip (her partial replacement rammed through her socket and crushed the bones all around it.)  The Dr. is hoping that the bone and scar tissue will form a pseudo socket to support the replacement.  We will know if it has started working in about a month.  She will not ever be able to put weight on that leg again and will be in a wheelchair (we have not told her this).  She did help the PTs yesterday by putting weight on her good leg.  She will need to go to skilled nursing when she leaves the hospital for extra care and rehab.
She is in a ton of pain and very, very confused.
Jane and I have to work, so Sandra Carroll (bless her) is getting a list of sitters together to stay with her during the day.  Jane had to go home.  It was very hard for her to leave and it is very hard for me to leave her after she has had a bad night.  I know whoever is there will take good care of her ... it's just hard.
Doug is keeping us fed and he and Darrell are filling in as needed....plus some.
Please keep praying for her...specifically that she has less pain and confusion.

Prayer Requests - 11/11

  • Hugh Anthony will have surgery tomorrow, in Plano, to clear out his arteries in his legs. Any type of surgery is scary for an 86 year old.
  • Next Monday (18th) Austin Anthony will be having some intensive tests on his heart. Please keep him and all the family in your prayers.
  • Sue Salter will be getting the results today on her MRI.
  • Penny Jones is the healthcare nurse for Ed Bullard.  She will be having major surgery at Medical City tomorrow.
  • Mike Smith, son-in-law of Mark and Marianne Whitehouse is improving after his accident last week.
  • Glenda Parson asked that we add Branden Felker to the Military Deployed list.  Branden was deployed to Afghanistan last Thursday.  He is scheduled to be there for 3 months. (He is in the Air Force and stationed in Ft Worth.)  Their home is in Weatherford so Dichele and Brylen will spend time between Weatherford and Paris during his deployment.  (As grandparents, Dwayne and I are hoping for more Paris time than Weatherford.)
  • Nelda Skinner asked that we remember Roger & Claudia Dawdy. Roger is very ill in the hospital in Longview. They are former members at LACOC and Claudia is the sister of Fran Dobbs (also former member).
  • Gilbert and Lynda Smith (former members at LACOC) asked that we pray for their daughter Kathi.  She had her yearly breast exam a couple of weeks ago.  They called her back for another mammogram and sonogram.  Then called her back for a biopsy.  We met with the doctor last Friday, the biopsy came back positive for cancer.  He assured us it is in the early stages, but she has 3 tumors in her breast.  He did not find that it has spread to her lymph nodes, so that's a blessing.  They will set her up with an oncologist and surgeon this coming week.  Please keep all of us in your prayers - that her surgery goes well and that Gilbert and I hold up thru this - nothing is much worse than having something go wrong with one of your kids.

Posted by Austin at 5pm:  "God gave me 15 years of playing sports, ever since I was the biggest 4 year old to ever play soccer haa. I've had great experiences living the "Friday Night Lights" quarterback dream and playing basketball for 13 years. Today the doctor said I can't play basketball anymore. I know God didn't close this door, the devil did, but He will be sure to open another one. I've had my time with sports and now it's time to focus my time on God. Writing has become a hobby of mine lately so I'm going to start writing mom's story and see where that leads. Thanks for the prayers everyone."

        URGENT PRAYER REQUEST - 10/29

Posted by Jay last night:  "Just got a call from Austin, at emergency room in Conway, AR. He passed out and team mates rushed him to ER. I'm on my way out the door. Everyone is worried since Kristi's episode a year ago. KRISTI also is upset because she cannot go. PRAY PLEASE - the Anthony's

Posted by Jay this morning:  "Here with Austin at hospital in Conway. He had chest pains, passed out and hit his head. Tests came back good, but so did Matt and Kristi's. Drs are not concerned and say he's a healthy 19 yr old athlete. Cannot get them to call EP cardiologist. They dont understand potential gravity of situation. PRAY for help n wisdom here please...Jay"

Posted by Jay this afternoon:  "A doctor talked with Austin's EP!!! They will discharge him with a 30 day heart monitor. NO BASKETBALL....He enforced the point! Bad news again, but NOT the worst news he's ever had to face. The doctor reminded him that a sport is not worth his life. Prayers Please - Jay"

Posted by Jay tonight:  "One of the most difficult things I've ever had to do...Much like the day I had to leave Kristi at Pate Rehab. Tonight I had to leave Austin in Conway after a long night and day of uncertainly at the hospital.
We still don't have any answers and it may be weeks to come before we have any at all. All we know for certain is that Austin had chest pains and passed out last night. We are nervous and concerned. The test results don't really help yet. We know it was not dehydration. There are two EP's looking at his case. It very well may never reappear and WE KNOW GOD IS IN CONTROL.

Austin has so many prayers going up by you all and so many have made contact with us today. Thank you. Please ask God for Austin's good health. He is dealing well with having to take a break from basketball but he still has concerns due to Kristi's condition as well as worrying about her and having to fulfill his school duties. Thank you all - Jay"

        Love you - MEAN IT!

        It's almost time....

Thank you to those who have volunteered to decorate a trunk for our annual 'Trunk or Treat' event!
We will get started around 7 PM and we encourage our volunteers to get to the church as close to 6 PM as possible. Candy will be provided to you when you arrive.
If it is dry you will drive over to the back lot and you will be directed where to go.
There is a good chance that we will have to move the festivities indoors (The gym area).  It may be storming and/or too muddy to do so outside.  If that is the case, we will set up tables and everyone will decorate a table instead of their trunk.  The logistics are being worked out, but all you will have to do is show up and get ready to pass out some sugary snacks!

        She's here!!!!

Miss Maggie Grace Daniels arrived today at 1:20pm.
She weighed in at 7 pounds and 7 ounces and is 20.5 inches long.

        Prayer Request - 10/23

My friend, Cindy Housley, had a pacemaker put in yesterday.  Her sweet husband Gerald was right by her side....and had a stroke.  He was in the right place at the right time...he's now in ICU.
Please pray for these 2 precious friends of ours.

Update on Kristi Anthony - 10/23

Update from Jay yesterday:  "Horrible day...Kristi's PT is getting cut tremendously due to medical terminology. One of her doctors insisted that the additional PT is necessary to maintain her strength until her cognitive abilities catch up. It looks like her aquatic therapy may be cut out as well for the same reasons. PLEASE PRAY FOR INTERVENTION!"

This was today's update:  "There was some VERY incorrect information reported about Kristi's progress and abilities which is making it extremely difficult for Kristi to have her much needed and very necessary therapy approved by insurance. We knew that something was wrong but could not get any answers until a doctor explained the situation to us. The insurance company now has completely false information. We are currently trying to get doctors to send notes to help build the case. KRISTI NEEDS YOUR PRAYERS NOW! PLEASE PRAY WITH TENACITY that Kristi's therapy will not be cut down (or possibly even out) and that it will be reapproved without any lapse! She needs this to get well. Please we are asking for your URGENT prayers to the Father - the Anthony's"

        Special Requests.....

Rachel Spencer sent these 2 requests:
        • 6 of our members will be traveling to Niteroi, Brazil, November 6-12 to visit our missionaries, Brent and Jill Nichols. While we are there, we are going to be helping with a women's conference. Jill asked if we could bring small things to put in a gift basket for each woman attending. So we are collecting travel-sized shampoos, conditioners, lotions, or other small items that could go in a little gift basket for the ladies. If you have anything like this, please give it to Carole Anderson or me (Rachel).
        • Also, Brent and Jill are having another baby boy in January! We want to take them a gift from the church, and we found out that they actually need a new car seat, so we are going to purchase that here and take it with us, along with a couple of personalized gifts for the baby. If you can chip in on the car seat, or if you have any another (small) gift to send for the baby, you can give it to me. Or you can drop it by the church office with Laura or Kim.

        The Perfect Church
If you should find the perfect church
        Without one fault or smear,
        For goodness sake! Don't join that church;
        You'd spoil the atmosphere.

If you should find the perfect church
        Where all anxieties cease
Then pass it by, lest joining it
        You'd mar the masterpiece.

If you should find the perfect church
        Then don't you ever dare,
        To tread upon such holy ground;
        You'd be a misfit there.

But since no perfect church exists
        Made of imperfect men,
Then let's cease looking for that church
And love the church we're in.
Of course, it's not a perfect church,
        That's simple to discern
But you and I and all of us
Could cause the tide to turn.

What fools we are to flee our post
        In that unfruitful search
To find at last where problems loom
        God proudly builds His church.

So let's keep working in our church
        Until the resurrection.
And then we each will join that church
        Without an imperfection.
