Weekly Update - 5/1

"I am the Light of the world" was the message that Patrick brought us from John 8:12-30, this morning.  It's the second installment, in the seven part series, of the "The 7 I Am Statements of Jesus"."
*Jesus came so we don't have to live in the dark.
*When no one else will stand with you, Jesus will.
*Jesus calls into the darkness of your life, and asks you to follow Him.
*He speaks of a whole hearted life long discipleship, not just an an acquaintance.

What does light means for us?
*Light brings attention to our need. (Verse 1-9)
*Light brings hope. (Verse 11)
*Light brings direction. (Verse 11)

Is HE the light of your world?

MEN'S BREAKFAST:  This Tuesday morning at 7am to 8am.  If you plan to attend, please sign up at the Welcome Center or call the church office, so they will have plenty of food cooked.  This is a great time for men to fellowship with one another while eating a wonderful meal together.  Invite your friends/family to join you.

BLOOD DRIVE:  If you are able to give blood, then please sign up or show up for our Blood Drive, this Wednesday, May 4th.  You never know whose life you might save!

WEDDING SHOWER:  There will be a shower honoring D'Lynn Gage and her soon to be husband, Philip Bueno, on May 15th from 1:30pm to 3pm.. Selections Belks, Carriage House and JCPenny.

CAN YOU HELP?  We will be hosting a Foster Family Appreciation/Fun Day at our building on Saturday, 5/21 from 10am-2pm.. Most of the planning will be done by CPS, but they need help running the different activities that are planned, and we can help with set up and clean up. They are planning to have things like bounce houses, ball pits, face painting, carnival games, etc.We need to go ahead and get a count of how many people will be able to help, and CPS requires that anyone over the age of 14 will need to fill out a volunteer application and have a background check completed. (Our younger kids are welcome to come help as long as we monitor them). If you are interested in helping that day, volunteer forms will be available in the church office for you to fill out. We need the paperwork turned in by 5/10 so there will be time to get the background checks completed before the event.

We hope to have a good turnout to show love and appreciation to these families that are helping kids in need. Please let Rachel Spencer know if you are planning to be there.

IGLESIA de CRISTO:  We will be having an Open House and Building Dedication with our Hispanic brethren on May 22nd from 5PM to 7PM. We will gather and praise God in how He has blessed this congregation. Refreshments will be served. There will be no evening service at our building.

SENIOR SUNDAY:  We will be honoring our 2016 graduates and their families with breakfast before class on May 29th. If you would be willing to make a donation toward food or help serve, please see Carol Anderson.
