Weekly Update - 5/3

Thank you Patrick for the message this morning "Finding God in the Silence".
He reminded us that there are many instances where Jesus went to be alone with God and that we need to remember to do that daily.  Tell Satan to "get out of here"!  We have to lose control and realize that God is in control.

OUR SYMPATHY
  • Johnny Nabors and his family as they mourn the loss of his brother Phillip Nabors.  Family night will be Monday night from 6-8pm at Bright Holland Funeral Home and his funeral will be Tuesday morning at 10am at the BH chapel with burial at Long Cemetery.
  • Gerene Taylor's brother passed away this week.  His services were today.


PRAYER REQUESTS:

  • Ruth Ann Stallings will have surgery tomorrow afternoon in Dallas.
  • Bill King will have cataract surgery on Thursday.
  • Lee McClain is recovering from hip replacement.
  • Harley Staley is at home recovering from heart ablation.
  • Former LACOC member, Anna Bolton, suffered a stroke this past week.  Please remember her and Roy during this time.
  • Van Wilson (Robert's brother) was admitted to PRMC this week.
  • Patricia McDowell (Molly's friend) was admitted to PRMC on Saturday. Not sure of diagnosis yet.
  • D.D. Young (Molly's friend) was injured, while moving a porch, on Saturday afternoon.  He was CareFlighted from Cooper to Dallas with a broken back and shoulder.
  • Shon Liles (local fireman) is in Dallas recovering from having a debfibulator placed this past week.  He is doing well.
  • There was another City of Paris worker who was injured this week.  His wife is 5 months pregnant.  No other details were given.
  • Foy Allison's friend Cody needs our prayers.
BUS DRIVER NEEDED:  Once a month there is a need for a bus driver to transport members/visitors to and from church, on Sunday mornings.  Please contact James Hanley or Shane Welch is you can help with this very important ministry.

MEN'S BREAKFAST:  Next Tuesday morning (May 12) from 7a-8a will be the next meeting.  It is very important that you sign up, at the Welcome Center, if you plan to attend so that food preparations can be made.  Please sign up or let the church office know by noon on May 11th.  Tim Young (Stallings' son-in-law) will be the speaker.

BABY SHOWER:  A shower is being planned for Clint and Misty Gage in honor of their new son, Carter Lee Gage.  Sunday, May 31st from 1:30-3pm.  They are registered at Paris Baby.

PANTRY NEEDS:  Grape Jelly, Toothpaste and Toothbrushes

SIMPLE SUPPER:  This weeks' entree is Italian Meatball Soup.  Please donate $3 per person.
