Weekly Update - 8/18

BAPTISMS:  
  • Kenzie Dickson, daughter of Kyle and Sherry Dickson, was baptized on Saturday by her grandfather, Dalias Dickson.
  • Debra Atchley, formerly of Paris, was baptized last Wednesday evening, by Richard Peace, following classes. Sandra Smallwood and Debbie Jones were both influential in her decision.
CONGRATULATIONS:  Johnny and Loretta Nabors are the proud grandparents of a beautiful new granddaughter, Emmaelynn Rose. She was born on Friday afternoon, weighing in at 6 pounds 8 ounces and 20 inches long.  Her parents are Jesse and Lacy Anderson and brother Nolan.

OUR SYMPATHY:  Joy Lowery's brother James Davis passed away on Friday.

PRAYER REQUESTS
  • Karen Cato had foot surgery on Thursday.  She is at home recovering.
  • Bobby Castlebury is in the hospital after falling and some possible kidney/bladder problems.  He has been moved to PRMC/Room 310. He said he will start rehab in the morning. He also said he should be here for 8 to 10 days.
  • Cherry Walker - She has been diagnosed with pancreatic and lung cancer.  She will begin chemo soon.

  • Bobby Salter - Continues to have knee problems, after an accident a few years ago.

  • Debra Metzger will be having a series of brain surgeries.
  • Dustin Smith, Haley Bulls-Smith's husband, is having IV antibiotics daily. 
  • Cooper Bell, 7-year-old son of Jerimy and Staci Bell of Roxton, who has been in Medical City/Dallas for 3 weeks, was released from the hospital today. He will be continuing to see the doctors there in preparation for the skin grafts.
  • Anita Kay Puckett has two brain aneurysms. She is in Medical City/Plano. Doctors are to observe her for 10 days before trying an operation.

  • Larry Sprinkle, my son, will be having the dual defibrillator/pacemaker implanted on Sept 3.

  • Jimmy Faulkner has been diagnosed with small cell Lung cancer. He's been through chemo and radiation. The treatments reduced it some. This type of cancer is very aggressive, Jimmy is not doing well at this time.

  • Dr. Robert Zimmerman has been diagnosed with bladder cancer. Continues to be in UTSW.

LADIES NIGHT OUT:  Sept 14 at 6pm will be the next LNO!  Mark your calendars now!  More information to come.

WEDNESDAY LADIES BIBLE CLASSES will resume on Sept 4th at 10am.  Two classes will be offered. One is a textual study of Romans 8 taught by Carol James.  This class will last for one hour. The second class will be studying The Good and Beautiful Life taught by Loree Johns, Rebecca Cowan, Maurine Spencer and Robyn Figgins.  It is more of a discussion class that will last 2 hours.  Babysitting is provided.

PARENT MEETING:  All 7th graders and their parents are invited to a meeting at Clint and Rachel Spencer's house from 3pm-5pm on Aug 25th.  The address is 2300 Wildwood Lane, Paris.

EMBRACE THE CHANGE: Beginning Sunday, Sept 8th, Worship will be at 9am and classes will be at 10:30am.


PANTRY NEEDS:  Soup with meat - Canned Fruit - Spaghetti noodles - Laundry soap

RAINBOW ROOM ITEMS:  Diapers (Size 2 and 4), Diaper Wipes, Lice Kits

SIMPLE SUPPER:  Taking a break for the Summer!
