Weekly Update - 8/7 - 8:37pm

  • Our sympathy goes out to Misty Ray and her family as they mourn the sudden loss of her uncle, Steve Miller.  He was the owner of Miller's Oil Lube and a preacher at the Assembly of God church in Cooper.  Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home is in charge of service.  No other details are known at this time.
  • We also mourn the loss of former member, Sam Smith.  His visitation will be Monday night at Starrett Funeral Home, from 6pm-7:30pm and his funeral service will be Tuesday morning at 10am in Mt. Pleasant at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
  • It was so sad to hear the announcement this morning, that the the Vinson's are leaving us!!!  Paul, Vickie, Grant and Laney have been such a bright spot to LACOC!  God bless your sweet family and know that anywhere you go, they will LOVE you!
  • WELCOME!!!!!  Our new Youth and Family Minister, Jared Baggett, his wife Kristi, twin daughters Drew and Shai and little son Gavin!  WoooHOOOO!!!!  We are so glad y'all are here!
  • PRAISE:  My friend, Donna Archer, got test results back today....NO CANCER!!!!!!
  • Mike Grigsby continues to recover from a series of mini-strokes at PRMC/South - Room 508.  Mike is in good spirits and appreciates visits.  Also, Wayne Kerby is heading up an effort to help get Mike and Kathy's house ready for them to move into.  If you can help with this, please contact Wayne.
  • Dianna Welch has completed the first week of her six week treatments.  Twice a day she has to go to PRMC to receive IV treatments and spend time in oxygen therapy.
  • Lewis and Carole Anderson's son, Heath, will be heading to Nepal on August 28th for a mission trip.  Please keep his health and safety on your heart.
  • Kenda Zant Felker is at home from the hospital recovering from the effects of her MS.
  • Kanyon Phillips (Spencer's grandson) continues to be in Children's Medical Center/Dallas.
  • Please continue to remember those who have lost their young sons these past 2 weeks; Elijah Friessen, Wade Whitmer and Dylan Ballard.  On a personal note....I attended the service for Dylan yesterday afternoon and heard Mike Fortenberry give some wonderful advice that we ALL can use.  1) Slow down, you're going to fast. 2) Don't drink...if you do drink, don't drive and 3) Know the Lord.  The overall theme....Hug your friends and family...tell them you love them.
  • Keep our troops on your hearts!  The loss of so many yesterday is heartbreaking!
  • Please remember the African countries that are suffering from famine and drought
VALET MINISTRY:  What a wonderful service this is!  But, they need help!  If you can help with this ministry, please check with any of the men at the door on Sunday morning.
