Weekly Update - 8/11

Baptized: 
  • Macy Bryan was baptized this morning.  She is the daughter of Roger and Stephanie Bryan.
  • Tate Bivens was baptized at Camp Deer Run last Wednesday night.  Tate is the grandson of Peggy Robinson.
Response:  Jason Ray went forward this morning..."Praise God that his relationship with Misty is closer", for him to be a stronger Christian and continued prayers for his Dad (Mack Ray) as he is recovering from surgery.

Sympathy:  Continue to remember the Boyd family as they are mourning the loss of their sister-in-law, Maudie Boyd, who passed away on Sunday.

  • Mindy Bulls will be having another knee surgery in the morning.
  • Dot Campbell is home and recovering from back surgery.
  • Wanda McFadden was released from the hospital on Friday.  She continues to have problems with her lungs and breathing.
  • Roy Jones is continuing testing.
  • Kristi Anthony is doing great with physical therapy...just needs more prayers for her memory.
  • Tiffany Parker's baby girl, Mila, continues to be in Baylor/Dallas.
  • Chuck Brazile remains in a Denton hospital with serious kidney issues.
  • Robert Slider (co-worker of mine) had a double by-pass
  •  My Mom, Louise McMillan, is MUCH improved. 
  • Vera Wilson's son, Chaz Wilson, is out at sea, on his way to the Middle East.
  • Former member of LACOC, Mike Banks, is out of ICU.
  • Kathy Ballard's friend, Jerry Mack, has been diagnosed with liver cancer.
  • Rebecca Cowan's mother-in-law, Jane Cowan, is in skilled nursing and hopes to come home.
  • Mark Welch and Diane McFadden's Mom, Lillian Welch, continues to be in poor health.
  • Anna Zant asked for prayers for her parents, the Mashburn's,
  • Remember all college students as they are on their way to start their year!  Keep their parents in your prayers also as their 'babies' leave the nest.
  • Remember the Vanderpool's and their mission work in Haiti.
Niteroi, Brazil Building Project:  Monetary donations are still being taken for this effort.

Backpacks 4 Kids:  Charlotte Grooms is accepting donation of new backpacks or monetary donations.  Charlotte works at Justiss Elementary.  New backpacks are greatly appreciated by the students there.

Back To School Bash:  All families who have kids in school are invited for one last summer event before school starts.  Games, food, family, devotional and more.  10:00am-1:30pm.  Make plans to attend.

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon:  We will be honoring the teachers of our community with a luncheon on Tuesday, August 20th, as they prepare for the new school year.  If you can help provide a dessert, please sign the list located at the visitors center.  We are preparing for 320 teachers this year.  See James Hanley or Patrick Cannon if you would like to help prepare, serve or clean up.  Thanks for your help!

Simple Supper:  This weeks' entree is BBQ Sloppy Joes.  Please donate at least $2 per person
